According to an early WHO report
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease caused 450,000 deaths
- Stroke is responsible for 400,000 deaths
- Ischaemic heart disease leads to 350,000 deaths
- While occupational injuries caused 360,000 deaths.
Several occupational risk factors, including exposure to long working hours and workplace exposure to air pollution, asthmagens, carcinogens, ergonomic risk factors, and noise, are responsible for occupational hazards. However, these numbers can be drastically reduced if enterprises and companies focus on building safe working cultures to nurture good health & positive wellness. After all, nothing comes above health, not even work!
