আলোচনাটি ছিল অত্যন্ত সুচিন্তিত, তথ্যসমৃদ্ধ এবং দিকনির্দেশনামূলক। ক্যান্সার চিকিৎসা সেবা যাতে শুধু বড় শহরে সীমাবদ্ধ না থেকে দেশের প্রতিটি প্রান্তে পৌঁছাতে পারে — সেই লক্ষ্যে একটি সুসংগঠিত নীতিমালার প্রয়োজনীয়তা এই আলোচনায় স্পষ্টভাবে উঠে এসেছে।

আমরা আশা করি এই আলোচনার ফলাফল এবং সুপারিশসমূহ নীতিনির্ধারকদের কাছে পৌঁছাবে এবং একটি সমতাভিত্তিক, সুলভ ক্যান্সার চিকিৎসা ব্যবস্থা গড়ে তুলতে সহায়ক হবে।

A Proud Moment for Global Breast Cancer Research

For the first time, a conference introduced dedicated research funding for LMIC-focused research, marking a significant step toward addressing disparities in breast cancer care across low- and middle-income countries.

At the prestigious St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Conference, out of 28 research proposals, only 3 were selected for the highly competitive LMIC Grant — a remarkable achievement.

The programme was conducted by Institute of Breast Disease Kolkata, reinforcing our commitment to advancing meaningful, context-driven research.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the winners of the LMIC Grant. Your work represents hope, innovation, and progress toward equitable cancer care worldwide.

Together, we move forward in our mission to make a difference where it matters most.

The Institute of Breast Disease, Kolkata (IBDK) extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sumohan Chatterjee, an eminent oncoplastic breast surgeon from Manchester, for his unwavering commitment and dedication.

Despite unforeseen travel uncertainties, Dr. Chatterjee went above and beyond—rearranging his journey with multiple flight changes from Manchester to London, London to Mumbai, and finally Mumbai to Kolkata—just to honor his commitment and be present at the St. Gallen Conference.

His presence, despite such challenges, truly reflects his passion for advancing breast oncology and supporting academic collaboration. His contribution played a significant role in making the conference a success.

We deeply appreciate his effort, resilience, and professionalism, and we are proud to have hosted him.

We are deeply honored to have Dr. Michael Gnant, Professor of Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna and President of the Austrian Breast & Colorectal Cancer Study Group, virtually join the conference organized by Institute of breast diseases, Kolkata.

A globally renowned expert in breast cancer research and co-chair of the prestigious St. Gallen International Consensus Panel, Dr. Gnant’s pioneering contributions to surgical oncology have significantly shaped modern cancer care worldwide.

His valuable insights and presence greatly enriched our scientific discussions. We sincerely thank him for his kind support and participation.

We are delighted to share an exciting milestone from the Best of St. Gallen Breast Cancer Conference event organized by the Institute of Breast Disease, Kolkata (IBDK).

A total of 137 abstracts were submitted by researchers and clinicians from various institutions. Out of these, 112 outstanding works were selected for poster presentations, reflecting the remarkable enthusiasm and scientific commitment of young investigators.

Following careful evaluation, the top 15 abstracts were shortlisted for oral presentations, where participants showcased their research before an expert panel. After a highly competitive session, the top 5 presenters were selected for the prestigious Travel Grant.

These five exceptional researchers will receive support to attend the 20th St. Gallen Breast Cancer Conference (SGBCC) in Vienna, Austria.

The Institute of Breast Disease Kolkata was truly honored to host Dr. Etienne Brain, a globally respected medical oncologist and an authority in geriatric oncology, during the Best of St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Conference held in Kolkata last week.

Dr. Brain’s insightful deliberation on the challenges of managing breast cancer in young and elderly patients added immense academic value to the conference and inspired meaningful discussion among the delegates.
