The excitement of the FIFA World Cup may have reached its thrilling conclusion with Spain emerging as the champions, but the spirit of connection and celebration continues at Anwesha Kolkata !

We were delighted to welcome a delegation of six visitors from Spain to our centre. During their visit, they interacted warmly with our children, parents, staff, and volunteers, gaining insight into our journey through a presentation showcasing our programmes and impact.

The visitors also expressed their appreciation by purchasing a book authored by Soutrik and beautiful artworks created by Souradip, two talented young adults from Bondhu, the self-advocacy group of Anwesha Kolkata. Their support is a wonderful encouragement to our young creators.

One of the most memorable moments of the visit was watching our children rehearse a stage performance based on stories by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore under the guidance of our dedicated resource person. Witnessing the passion, discipline, and determination of our deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) children left our guests deeply moved. They wholeheartedly appreciated the children's talent, perseverance, and commitment.

Moments like these remind us that inclusion, creativity, and human connection transcend languages, cultures, and borders. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fundación Colores de Calcuta for bringing our Spanish guests to Anwesha Kolkata and making this enriching cultural exchange possible. Their continued support in building bridges of friendship and inclusion is deeply appreciated.

Thank you to our Spanish friends for spending this meaningful time with us and celebrating the abilities, creativity, and aspirations of our children. Together, we continue to prove that compassion and inclusion speak a universal language.

Anwesha Kolkata team conducted an engaging Ear & Hearing Care and Deafness Awareness Session at Santoshpur Vidyamandir for Girls (H.S.), with the active participation of 42 students, teachers, and school staff.

The session highlighted the importance of hearing health, early identification of hearing loss, and deafness awareness. Students also enjoyed a live introduction to Indian Sign Language (ISL) and an interactive quiz, making learning both meaningful and fun.

We sincerely thank the Headmistress and the entire school for their warm hospitality, and Fundación Colores de Calcuta for supporting this important initiative.

Healthy hearing means better communication, inclusion, and equal opportunities for every child.

শব্দ যখন ছবিতে কথা বলে: জীবন বিজ্ঞানের সহজ পাঠ

গত ১১ই জুলাই (শনিবার) সকাল ১১: ০০ টা থেকে দুপুর ১: ০০ টা পর্যন্ত আমাদের শিশুদের জন্য " জীবন বিজ্ঞান"-এর ওপর একটি অনন্য ও শিক্ষণীয় কর্মশালা (Workshop) এর আয়োজন করা হয়েছিল।

্শ্রবণশক্তির সীমাবদ্ধতার কারণে আমাদের ছেলেমেয়েরা অনেক সময়ই পড়াশোনার সাধারণ বিষয়গুলো সম্পূর্ণভাবে বুঝে উঠতে পারে না। তাদের এই শেখার প্রক্রিয়াকে আরও সহজ ও আনন্দময় করে তুলতেই আমাদের এই বিশেষ উদ্যোগ। কর্মশালাটি অত্যন্ত দক্ষতার সাথে পরিচালনা করেন শ্রদ্ধেয় অঙ্কিতা দেওয়ানজী।

কর্মশালার মূল আকর্ষণসমূহ:

#পঞ্চেন্দ্রিয়ের_সহজ_পাঠ: মানুষের শরীরের অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ —আমাদের "পঞ্চ ইন্দ্রিয়" নিয়ে বিশদ আলোচনা করা হয়, যা তাদের চারপাশের বিশ্বকে অনুভব করতে সাহায্য করে।

#ছবিতে_চেনা_মানবদেহ: মাথা থেকে পা পর্যন্ত মানবদেহের বিভিন্ন অঙ্গপ্রত্যঙ্গ সুন্দর সুন্দর ছবির মাধ্যমে শিশুদের সামনে তুলে ধরা হয়, যাতে তারা সহজেই তা হৃদয়াঙ্গম করতে পারে।

কানের গঠন ও কার্যকারিতা: যেহেতু তাদের শোনার ক্ষেত্রে কিছু সীমাবদ্ধতা রয়েছে, তাই বিশেষ জোর দেওয়া হয়েছিল কানের গঠনের ওপর। ছবি দেখিয়ে সহজ ভাষায় বুঝিয়ে দেওয়া হয় কানের ভেতরের বিভিন্ন অংশ ও তাদের কাজ।

আমরা কীভাবে শুনি?: মানুষ কীভাবে শব্দ শুনতে পায় এবং সেই অনুভূতি কীভাবে আমাদের মস্তিষ্কে পৌঁছায়, তা অত্যন্ত চমৎকারভাবে দৃশ্যমান ছবির মাধ্যমে বিশ্লেষণ করা হয়।

সব মিলিয়ে দু'ঘণ্টার এই সেশনটি ছিল ভীষণ প্রাণবন্ত ও ইন্টারঅ্যাক্টিভ। ছবির জাদুতে কঠিন জীবন বিজ্ঞানও এদিন হয়ে উঠেছিল সহজ ও আকর্ষণীয়। অঙ্কিতা দেওয়ানজী মহাশয়াকে আমাদের আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ এমন একটি সংবেদনশীল ও কার্যকরী কর্মশালা উপহার দেওয়ার জন্য।

আমাদের লক্ষ্য একটাই—কোনো বাধাই যেন ওদের জানার ও শেখার আগ্রহকে থামিয়ে দিতে না পারে। ❤️

On 3 July 2026, we had the privilege of conducting an & and Awareness Session at Santoshpur Vidyamandir for Boys ( H.S) , where around 60 students, along with teachers and school staff, actively participated.

The interactive session focused on the importance of hearing health, prevention of hearing loss, early identification of hearing problems, and fostering a positive understanding of deafness. To make the learning experience more engaging, participants were introduced to the basics of Indian Sign Language (ISL) through a live demonstration, followed by a brief quiz that reflected their enthusiasm and growing awareness.

The curiosity, participation, and thoughtful responses from the students made this session truly rewarding. Every conversation on hearing health brings us one step closer to a society where early intervention, accessibility, and inclusion become a shared responsibility.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Principal of Santoshpur Vidyamandir for the warm welcome, unwavering support, and commitment to promoting health awareness among students.

বাধা ভেঙে এগিয়ে যাওয়ার এক অনন্য লড়াই: শুনুন রৌদ্র মিত্র এর গল্প!

সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ার দেওয়ালে প্রতিদিন আমরা কতশত গল্প দেখি, কিন্তু কিছু গল্প আমাদের থমকে দাঁড়াতে বাধ্য করে। আমাদের নতুন করে বাঁচতে শেখায়। তেমনই একটি জীবনের গল্প নিয়ে Josh Talk-এর মঞ্চে হাজির হয়েছে এক অদম্য তরুণ—রৌদ্র মিত্র।

বধির যুবাদের অধিকার ও আত্মমর্যাদার লড়াইয়ে শামিল, Anwesha Kolkata -এর সেলফ অ্যাডভোকেসি গ্রুপ 'বন্ধু দল'-এর অন্যতম গর্বিত সদস্য হলো রৌদ্র। যে সমাজ অনেক সময় ওদের নীরবতাকে দুর্বলতা ভেবে ভুল করে, সেই সমাজকে নিজের কাজের মাধ্যমে ও দেখিয়ে দিয়েছে যে—ইচ্ছাশক্তি থাকলে কোনো বাধাই বড় নয়।

রৌদ্রের এই লড়াই শুধু ওর একার নয়, এটা সমাজের সব বাধা-বিপত্তিকে বুড়ো আঙুল দেখিয়ে এগিয়ে যাওয়ার এক জীবন্ত অনুপ্রেরণা। ওর এই গল্প আমাদের শেখায় কীভাবে কঠিনতম পরিস্থিতির মুখোমুখি দাঁড়িয়েও হাসিমুখে নিজের অধিকার ছিনিয়ে নিতে হয়।

"হার মেনে নেওয়া তো সহজ, কিন্তু আসল হিরো তারাই যারা পরিস্থিতির চোখে চোখ রেখে বলতে পারে—আমিও পারি!"

Huge congratulations to Arpan Guha and Aishani Banerjee for clearing their Class XII exams, and to Sreoyshi Chakraborty for clearing her Class X exams with flying colors! Your hard work, resilience, and brilliance are an inspiration to us all.

These incredible students were felicitated during the Day celebration at Manovikas Kendra on June 25, 2026.
