When dialysis can’t wait — Permcath provides the access.

Permcath for Dialysis

Permcath = Tunneled cuffed central venous catheter, commonly used when a patient needs hemodialysis access and an AV fistula or graft is not yet ready or cannot be used.

Key points:

* 🩸 Provides immediate access for hemodialysis
* ⏳ Useful as a bridge while an AV fistula matures
* 🔄 Can be used for longer-term dialysis when permanent access is not possible
* 📍 Usually inserted through the internal jugular vein
* 🛡️ The tunneled and cuffed design helps reduce infection and catheter migration
* ⚠️ Complications include infection, thrombosis, catheter dysfunction and central venous stenosis

*Best practice* : Whenever feasible, an AV fistula or AV graft is preferred as the long-term dialysis access, while a Permcath is generally considered a temporary or alternative access.

🔹 Poor dialysis flow or increased venous pressure

🩸 AV Graft for Dialysis — When Every Vein Matters

For patients who need long-term hemodialysis, having reliable vascular access is essential.

When a patient’s own veins are not suitable for creating an AV fistula, an AV graft can provide an important alternative.

An AV graft uses a special medical tube to connect an artery to a vein, creating a durable access point through which dialysis can be performed.

🔹 Useful when native veins are inadequate
🔹 Can generally be used sooner than a traditional AV fistula
🔹 Provides dependable access for repeated dialysis
🔹 Requires regular monitoring for infection, clotting and narrowing
