What is PIVD?

Pr*****ed Intervertebral Disc (PIVD), commonly known as a "slipped disc" or "herniated disc."
Occurs when the soft, jelly-like center (nucleus pulposus) of an intervertebral disc pushes out through a tear in the tougher outer layer (annulus fibrosus).
Can compress nearby spinal nerves, leading to pain, numbness, or weakness.

Causes:

Age-related degeneration: Discs lose water content and become less flexible over time.
Trauma/Injury: Sudden heavy lifting, twisting, or falls.
Poor posture: Chronic strain on the spine.
Obesity: Increased load on the spinal discs.
Repetitive movements: Activities involving frequent bending or lifting.

Common Locations:

Lumbar spine (lower back): Most common (L4-L5, L5-S1).
Cervical spine (neck): Less common (C5-C6, C6-C7).
Thoracic spine (mid-back): Rare.
