🌷 Let’s break the silence and the myths around menstruation!

🔴 MYTH: Period blood is “dirty” or impure.
✅ FACT: Period blood is simply blood and uterine tissue shed naturally by the body. Menstruation is a normal biological process.

🔴 MYTH: You should avoid exercising during periods.
✅ FACT: Exercise is safe and may even help reduce cramps, bloating and mood changes.

🔴 MYTH: Period pain is always normal and should be tolerated.
✅ FACT: Mild cramps can be common, but severe or disabling pain deserves medical evaluation.

🔴 MYTH: Washing your hair during periods is harmful.
✅ FACT: There is no medical reason to avoid bathing or washing your hair during menstruation.

🔴 MYTH: You should not eat certain foods during your period.
✅ FACT: A balanced diet, adequate hydration and iron-rich foods are beneficial. There is no universal list of foods that must be avoided.

🔴 MYTH: Irregular periods are always harmless.
✅ FACT: Occasional variation can happen, but persistent irregular cycles may need evaluation.

🔴 MYTH: Using a tampon or menstrual cup means you are no longer a virgin.
✅ FACT: Menstrual products do not determine or define virginity.

🔴 MYTH: Periods are something to be embarrassed about.
✅ FACT: Menstruation is a normal part of reproductive health—and talking openly helps girls and women seek care when needed.

🌸 Know your body. Question the myths. Seek medical advice when something doesn’t feel right.

🤰 Pregnancy can present with different symptoms, and not everyone experiences the same signs.

🌸 Common early symptoms :
• Missed or delayed period
• Nausea or vomiting, especially in the morning
• Breast tenderness or fullness
• Increased tiredness or sleepiness
• Frequent urination
• Mild lower abdominal cramps or bloating
• Increased sensitivity to smells
• Changes in appetite or food preferences
• Mood changes
• Increased vaginal discharge without itching or foul smell

💗 Remember: These symptoms can also occur before menstruation or due to other conditions. Symptoms alone cannot confirm pregnancy.

Seek medical attention urgently if pregnancy is suspected and there is heavy bleeding, severe abdominal/pelvic pain, dizziness/fainting, or shoulder-tip pain.

📍Early confirmation and appropriate antenatal care help ensure a healthy pregnancy.

📍Endometriosis — It’s Not “Just Period Pain”
Severe period pain is not something you simply have to live with.

Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing inflammation, pain and sometimes difficulty conceiving.

🔹 Common symptoms include:
• Painful periods
• Chronic pelvic pain
• Pain during or after in*******se
• Heavy or irregular periods
• Bloating, fatigue or digestive symptoms
• Difficulty getting pregnant

💜 Listen to your body. Your pain is real.

Early evaluation and appropriate treatment can help control symptoms, protect quality of life and address fertility concerns when needed.
If your period pain is affecting your daily life, don’t ignore it. Consult a Gynaecologist.

Awareness today. Better tomorrow. 🌸

📍Successfully performed an Emergency (Rescue) Cervical Cerclage in a high-risk pregnancy.
As an obstetrician, there is no greater satisfaction than knowing your efforts may give a baby a better chance at life and a family more hope for the future.

Every such procedure is a race against time, requiring careful patient selection, meticulous surgical technique, and dedicated postoperative care.

🔸A cervical cerclage is a stitch placed around the cervix when it starts opening too early during pregnancy. In carefully selected patients, it can:

• Help prevent or delay preterm birth.
• Provide support to a weak cervix (cervical insufficiency).
• Increase the chance of prolonging pregnancy, allowing the baby more time to develop.
• Improve neonatal outcomes by reducing complications related to extreme prematurity.

Success depends on timely diagnosis, appropriate patient selection, meticulous surgical technique and close follow-up.

⚠️ Postmenopausal Bleeding is Never Normal

If you or anyone you know have reached menopause and notice any vaginal bleeding—even a few drops—don't ignore it. It should always be evaluated by a gynaecologist.

While postmenopausal bleeding can be caused by harmless conditions such as thinning of the uterine lining or polyps, it can also be an early warning sign of uterine (endometrial) cancer.
Early diagnosis often leads to better outcomes and simpler treatment.

📍Seek medical attention if you notice:
• Any bleeding after 12 months without periods.
• Recurrent spotting or bleeding.
• Bleeding associated with pelvic pain or foul-smelling discharge.

🌸Your health matters. Don't delay your check-up. Early diagnosis can save lives.

🌸IVF Journey Explained: Understanding the Steps

Many couples hear about IVF but are often unsure about what actually happens during the process. This post aims to simplify and clarify the steps involved in IVF (In Vitro Fertilization).

➡️ Fertility Assessment – Evaluation of both partners to identify factors affecting fertility.

➡️ Ovarian Stimulation – Medications are used to help multiple eggs mature.

➡️ Monitoring – Regular ultrasounds and blood tests track follicle growth.

➡️ Trigger Injection – Given when the eggs are ready for collection.

➡️ Egg Collection – Mature eggs are retrieved from the ovaries through a minor procedure.

➡️ S***m Collection & Fertilization – Eggs and s***m are combined in the IVF laboratory.

➡️ Embryo Development – Fertilized eggs are monitored as they develop into embryos.

➡️ Embryo Transfer – A selected embryo is gently placed into the uterus.

➡️ Pregnancy Test – A blood test is performed about two weeks later to check for pregnancy.

📍Understanding the IVF process can help reduce anxiety and empower couples to make informed decisions about their fertility journey.

🚨 BLEEDING DURING PREGNANCY – DON'T PANIC, BUT DON'T IGNORE IT! 🤰

Not all bleeding during pregnancy is dangerous, but every episode of bleeding should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.
Many women experience light spotting during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. While some causes are harmless, others may require urgent medical attention to protect both mother and baby.

🔍 Possible Causes of Bleeding During Pregnancy:
♦️ Implantation bleeding – Light spotting in early pregnancy
♦️ Subchorionic hematoma – Collection of blood around the gestational sac
♦️ Threatened miscarriage – Bleeding with a viable pregnancy
♦️ Miscarriage – Pregnancy loss associated with bleeding and pain
♦️ Ectopic pregnancy – A medical emergency where pregnancy develops outside the uterus
♦️ Placenta previa – Placenta covering the cervix, usually causing painless bleeding in later pregnancy
♦️ Placental abruption – Premature separation of the placenta, often associated with pain and heavy bleeding

💡 What Should You Do?
• Stay calm.
• Avoid self-medication.
• Note the amount and color of bleeding.
• Contact your obstetrician immediately.
• Visit the nearest emergency facility if symptoms are severe.

📍A healthy pregnancy begins with awareness and timely care.
