After performing cataract surgeries on more than 850 patients in past few months this one case is close to my heart, this young girl had both eye cataract which hampered her school and daily life, she was dependent on others for all her routine activity.
close your eyes and try to eat food in front of you or try to go to toilet with closed eyes, it is difficult, when one of your sense is impaired, she was crying and irritated most of the time, after her routine investigation we found her haemoglobin was 3.2 (normal for this age should be >12) after blood transfusion and oral treatment her hemoglobin comes to 10.7.
she was taken for right eye cataract surgery, this is her next day follow up, other eye surgery will be done soon, but for now she is able to see again,her whole management was done free of cost due to her parents monetary situation.
After her visual rehabilitation I hope she will be able to complete her education and will make a difference in the society. This post is to create awareness that a simple cataract surgery can make a huge difference in someone's life.
