Diarrhea draining your energy? The food you eat can either heal your gut or make things much worse. ๐ง๐ฝ
In my clinic, I frequently see patients prolonging their suffering during a stomach bug or diarrhea simply because they eat the wrong foods. When your digestive system is inflamed and working overtime, it needs rest and the right kind of fuel to recover.
Hydration is Your First Priority:
Frequent loose stools lead to rapid fluid and electrolyte loss. Before you even think about solid food, prioritize water, ORS (Oral Rehydration Solutions), and clear soups to prevent severe dehydration.
What to Eat for a Faster Recovery:
Keep your meals incredibly light and simple. I always recommend plain rice, toast, and boiled potatoes. Bananas are especially helpful as they are easy to digest and help replace lost nutrients like potassium, while improving stool consistency. Adding a small bowl of fresh curd (yogurt) provides natural probiotics to help restore your healthy gut bacteria. ๐ฟ
๐ซ What to Strictly Avoid: Stay far away from spicy meals, greasy and fried foods, caffeinated drinks, and heavy dairy like milk and cheese. These will only irritate your stomach further!
๐จ When to Seek Urgent Medical Help:
If your symptoms last for more than 2-3 days, or if you experience severe weakness, high fever, signs of dehydration, or blood in your stool, do not rely on home remedies. Seek medical evaluation immediately.
