What is Electrotherapy for Pain?
Electrotherapy is a treatment used in physiotherapy where small, safe electrical currents are passed through the skin to reduce pain, improve blood circulation, and help healing.
TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation):
Sends gentle electrical pulses to the nerves.
Blocks pain signals and releases body’s natural painkillers (endorphins).
Used for back pain, arthritis, sciatica, nerve pain, and post-surgery pain.
🔹 IFT (Interferential Therapy):
Works deeper than TENS.
Reduces chronic pain, swelling, and muscle stiffness.
Helpful in slip disc, sciatica, joint pain.
🔹 Ultrasound Therapy:
Uses sound waves, not electric current.
Heals tissues, reduces swelling and pain.
