Grateful to share the outcome of another challenging Urological Cancer surgery performed in Lucknow.
This gentleman with Chronic Kidney Disease and a solitary functioning kidney was diagnosed with high-grade urothelial cancer involving both the distal ureter and urinary bladder. A conventional approach could have rendered him dialysis-dependent.
With the aim of preserving his solitary kidney without compromising cancer control, we performed a Robotic Radical Cystectomy + Distal Ureterectomy + B/L ePLND + Cutaneous Ureterostomy. The procedure was completed smoothly with an active console time of ~3.5 hours.
Despite radical cystectomy being one of the most complex and morbid surgeries, the minimally invasive robotic approach helped facilitate a smooth recovery—with less pain, early mobilisation and discharge on POD 2 with only on-demand analgesia. Today, on POD 8, he was back in OPD for his first follow-up, doing remarkably well.
The final histopathology showed negative surgical margins with no nodal involvement, indicating complete surgical clearance of both malignancies. The focus now shifts towards regular surveillance and follow-up.
Cancer treated. Kidney preserved. Back to normal life. 🙏🏻

Pleased to share another successful Robotic Adrenal surgery in Lucknow.

Recently, I had the opportunity to perform a Robotic Right Adrenalectomy for a large 13 cm right adrenal mass extending deep into the infrahepatic space. Such large adrenal tumors can be technically demanding because of their proximity to the liver, inferior vena cava, and major vascular structures, making meticulous dissection essential.

Despite the complexity, the surgery was completed smoothly with an active console time of just 110 minutes. The patient, who also had multiple medical comorbidities including COPD and hypertension, particularly benefited from the minimally invasive robotic approach, allowing reduced operative stress, minimal postoperative pain, early mobilization, and discharge on the second postoperative day only on On-demand analgesia.

Cases like these reinforce how robotic surgery continues to expand the boundaries of minimally invasive management for complex urological and adrenal tumors while helping patients recover faster and return to their daily lives sooner.

A journey worth sharing with everyone!

This 80 years old gentleman came to me with one such challenging diagnosis — an aggressive variant of bladder cancer along with simultaneous upper urinary tract (ureter) cancer of the same histology. In simple words, cancer was affecting two different parts of his urinary system at the same time, making both the disease and treatment extremely complex.

Understandably, an advanced cancer diagnosis (Stage III of two organs) had made him wonder whether life could ever return to normal. However, after reviewing his condition, we realised that despite the complexity, there was still a chance to aim for complete cancer control.

At 82 years of age, he required a surgery that involved removal of the kidney, entire ureter, urinary bladder and prostate — all in a single operation. The magnitude of such a procedure made it a big surgical challenge, and to the best of our knowledge, it was among the first surgeries of its kind performed in the region.

But this is where the advantages of a Robotic Surgical Approach became important — helping us perform such an extensive cancer surgery with precision while allowing him the possibility of a quicker recovery.

I will always respect the faith and trust he had placed in me and our team during this difficult journey. The surgery was completed successfully and seeing him walk out of the hospital on the 4th postoperative day was a special moment. It was probably the first time he truly believed that a normal life after such a cancer diagnosis was indeed possible.

Today, almost 6 months after that surgery, he stands tall and ultimately with a smile on his face — having completed his entire treatment journey, including the required adjuvant therapy, and is back to living his normal life. A journey that once began with the fear of a devastating cancer diagnosis has transformed into one of hope, recovery, and renewed confidence.
