🚨 Rabies is 100% Fatal… But Also 100% Preventable.

A simple dog bite can become life-threatening if ignored.
Rabies is one of the deadliest infections once symptoms begin.

👨‍⚕️ Dr. Aakash Pandita explains what every parent MUST know:

⚠️ Rabies can spread through:
• Dog bites 🐕
• Animal scratches 🐾
• Saliva or licks on broken skin

⏳ What should you do immediately after a dog bite?

✅ Wash the wound with soap & running water for 15 minutes
✅ Visit the hospital IMMEDIATELY
✅ Start the first rabies vaccine dose within 24 hours
(The earlier, the better)

💉 Rabies Vaccine Schedule:
• Day 0
• Day 3
• Day 7
• Day 14
• Day 28

⚠️ In severe or high-risk bites, doctors may also give:
🩺 Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG)
to reduce the infection risk further.

❌ Important:
Even if the dog is vaccinated, do NOT ignore the vaccine for the child.

Animal vaccination is not always 100% protective.

🚨 Missing the vaccine can be deadly.
Taking the vaccine on time can SAVE a life.

👶 Whether in children or adults, rabies has almost 100% fatality once symptoms start.

But timely vaccination can completely prevent it.

🚨 Premature Babies Can Lose Their Vision… But It Can Be Prevented! 👶👁️

One of the most common preventable causes of blindness in premature babies is:
⚠️ ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity)

If your baby is born premature, the blood vessels in the eyes are still developing.
Sometimes these vessels grow abnormally and can permanently damage the baby’s vision if not treated on time.

👨‍⚕️ The good news?
✅ Early ROP Screening can save your baby’s eyesight.

📌 Important Things Every Parent Should Know:

✔️ Ask for ROP Screening before hospital discharge
✔️ ROP screening is NOT a one-time test
✔️ Regular follow-ups are extremely important
✔️ Screening continues until the retina fully matures

⚠️ If diagnosed at the right time:
✅ Treatment is possible
✅ Laser treatment or injections can prevent blindness

🚨 Delaying follow-up can permanently affect your child’s vision.

👶 Parents of premature babies — please stay alert and never miss ROP follow-ups.

🚨 3 Out of Every 1000 Babies Are Born With Hearing Loss 👶👂

The biggest problem?
Most parents find out when it’s already too late. ⚠️

But this can be detected early with a simple test called:
✅ Newborn Hearing Screening

🩺 What happens in this test?
✔️ A small probe is placed in the baby’s ear
✔️ Baby sleeps comfortably during the test
✔️ No pain, no injection, no blood loss
✔️ Takes only 5–10 minutes

👂 Why is this test so important?

Because hearing is directly connected to speech development.
❌ If a child cannot hear properly, speech development gets delayed.

⚠️ Early diagnosis before 3 months of age can help ensure:
✅ Normal speech development
✅ Better brain development
✅ Timely treatment with excellent outcomes

❌ Delaying diagnosis beyond 6 months can affect:
• Speech
• Learning ability
• Brain development

📌 Ideally, every newborn should get a hearing screening before hospital discharge or within the first 2–3 days after birth.

👨‍⚕️ If your baby is about to be discharged or was recently born, talk to your doctor about newborn hearing screening today.

From 6 months onward:
✔️ Show books

Allow children to explore, drop objects, and solve small problems on their own.
It improves:
✔️ Creativity
✔️ Problem-solving skills
✔️ Confidence

😴 5. Protect Your Child’s Sleep
Good sleep is essential for brain development and neural growth.

✔️ Below 1 year: 14–16 hours sleep
