Today, on the panel, talking about Methylation, FRAT TEST, LEUCOVORIN , one thought stayed with me—
We don’t see behaviour.
We see a child trying to communicate through it.
And the real question is no longer:
“How do we stop this behaviour?”
It is:
“What biology is driving it?”
Because when biology is dysregulated—
a child doesn’t “choose” to avoid eye contact,
to stim,
to not respond,
to melt down.
Their brain is trying to cope.
⸻
🔬 The shift is powerful—and necessary
We are moving from managing behaviour → to understanding methylation, folate pathways, neuroinflammation, gut-brain signals.
And something changes when you do that—
You stop controlling the child…
You start understanding the child.
⸻
🧬 Testing is not a checklist
FRAT. Homocysteine. Other markers.
Not every child needs everything.
The right test, for the right child, at the right time.
That’s where clinical wisdom matters.
⸻
💊 Leucovorin (Folinic Acid)
Not a magic pill. Not for everyone.
But in the right biology—
it can unlock attention, connection, language.
Dose? Duration? Response?
Individual. Observed. Adjusted.
⸻
🧠 Beyond the label
Autism is rarely alone.
Look for ADHD. Anxiety. Sleep. Sensory dysregulation.
Because sometimes what looks like “autism behaviour”…
is actually something else asking for help.
⸻
🌿 The gut conversation
Important. Promising.
But let’s be clear—
science first, trends later.
⸻
✨ The truth we must hold on to:
When you treat the biology,
you don’t just reduce behaviour.
You remove the noise.
And behind that noise—
is a child who was always there…
trying to reach you.
⸻
Don’t chase behaviour.
Don’t chase labels.
Understand the biology. Reach the child.
