Dr. Suman Puri, Chairperson of the Punjab IAGE Chapter, Professor and Unit Head, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, DMC&H, successfully organized a CME on “Advances in Gynae Laparoscopy” – Scope ASR 2026, in collaboration with Fortis Escorts Hospital, Amritsar, on 9th August 2026 at Courtyard by Marriott, Amritsar.

The CME witnessed enthusiastic participation and featured an excellent scientific programme focusing on the latest advances in gynaecological endoscopy ,minimally invasive and Robotic surgery.

The CME was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of distinguished dignitaries from across Punjab, along with the gracious presence of Dr. Angila Aneja, Guest of Honour from Fortis La Femme, New Delhi, and Dr. Bajwa, PMC Member, Amritsar.

Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Suman Puri, Punjab IAGE continues its vision of empowering every gynaecologist with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on training in endoscopy, enabling them to perform world-class minimally invasive surgeries.

Dr. Suman Puri delivered an insightful and highly informative lecture on “Complex TLH with Advanced (Robotic) Technology.” She highlighted the evolution of laparoscopic hysterectomy and the integration of advanced robotic technologies in modern gynaecological surgery. Her session focused on simplifying complex laparoscopic procedures, understanding surgical anatomy, the appropriate use of advanced technology, and improving surgical precision and patient outcomes using 3D laparoscopy and robotic technology. The session provided valuable insights into the practical application of advanced minimally invasive techniques in gynaecology.

Dr. Mehak Arora, Assistant Professor, participated as a panelist in the panel discussion on “Challenges and Complications in Laparoscopy,” contributing to the academic discussion on the recognition, prevention and management of complications during minimally invasive surgery.

The video presentation session was another highlight of the CME, with excellent participation from the department. Dr. Heena Ladher, Senior Resident, was awarded the 1st Prize for her video presentation titled “Inside Robotic Surgery: From Docking to Hysterectomy.” Dr. Mehak Arora was awarded the 2nd Prize for her video presentation titled “Adhesiolysis in Hysteroscopy” in the Punjab IAGE video presentation session.

The arrangements for the programme were efficiently coordinated by Dr. Ruchika, contributing significantly to the smooth and successful conduct of the event.

DMC&H celebrated DMC&H Research Day 2026 with great enthusiasm, reaffirming its commitment to promoting a strong culture of research and innovation among faculty and students. The event witnessed the participation of more than 300 delegates, including faculty members, researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), whose presence added immense value to the scientific event. Competitions for Best Abstract, Oral Presentation, and e-Poster were held across the MBBS, MD/MS, and DM/MCh categories. Winners were felicitated with cash awards of ₹25,000 in their respective categories, while all participants received certificates of participation in recognition of their scientific contributions. During the event, Research & Development Policy was also released.

During the event, Dr. Ajit Sood, Professor & Head, Department of Gastroenterology, DMC&H has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions and exemplary work in the field of medical research.

In the E-Poster category, the MBBS results were: 1st – Sidakbir Singh Paul and 2nd – Ahaan Bansal. In the MD/MS category, 1st – Shaina Gupta (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), 2nd – Himanshu (Orthopaedics), and 3rd – Jannat Sekhon (Radiology) and Gurprasad Singh (Medicine). In the DM/MCh category, 1st – Ujjawal Mahajan (Gastroenterology) and 2nd – Himanshu Garg (Cardiology). For Oral Presentations, 1st – Hridya Mahajan (MD), 2nd – Yogesh Kumar (DM), and 3rd – Namit Singla (MBBS) and Ritvik Gupta (MBBS). Special Mention/Appreciation was awarded to Parul (MD) and Kashish Aggarwal (MCh).

The event was graced by Sh. Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society; Sh. Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society; Dr. G. S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H; Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics; Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Bishav Mohan, Chief Cardiologist cm Coordinator, and Dr. Ashima Taneja, Additional Medical Superintendent; members of the DMC&H Managing Society; members of the Research and Development Committee; and faculty members of DMC&H, who attended the programme and encouraged the participants for their valuable contributions towards advancing medical research.

In his message, Sh. Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, emphasized that research has always been an integral part of DMC&H's journey towards academic and clinical excellence. He said that the institution provides ample opportunities and a supportive environment for faculty members and students to undertake meaningful research that contributes to better healthcare. He encouraged all participants to actively engage in research and continue striving for innovation and scientific excellence.

Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H, welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest to the audience. He highlighted Dr. Rajiv Bahl's distinguished contributions to medical research and public health and expressed gratitude for his valuable presence at the event.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Rajiv Bahl emphasized the pivotal role of research in advancing healthcare and improving patient outcomes. He encouraged faculty members and researchers to take up leadership roles as Principal Investigators, focus on translating research into clinical practice, and actively participate in more clinical trials to generate evidence-based solutions that benefit patients.He encouraged young researchers and medical professionals to pursue quality, ethical, and impactful research that addresses national healthcare priorities. He also appreciated DMC&H for fostering a vibrant research ecosystem and motivating students and faculty to contribute towards scientific advancement.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, faculty members, participants, judges, organizing committee, and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of DMC&H Research Day 2026.

Nurturing Every Journey of Motherhood: IVF, Antenatal Care & Breastfeeding Awareness Camp

Under the esteemed leadership of Dr. Ashima Taneja, Addl. Medical Superintendent, DMC&H, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology successfully organized an IVF, Antenatal Care & Breastfeeding Awareness Camp at Urban Health Centre, Shimlapuri, with the objective of promoting women’s health, safe motherhood, infertility awareness, and optimal newborn nutrition.

The camp was graced by our esteemed Chief Guests Mrs. Rajinder Pal Chhina, Hon’ble MLA (AAP) and Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Retired SP.

The programme featured informative health talks by our faculty:

Dr. Sunil Juneja, Professor, Dept of Obst & Gynae highlighted the benefits of IVF services and the importance of timely evaluation and treatment for infertility.

Dr. Muskan Chaudhary, Assistant Professor, Dept of Obst & Gynae spoke on the importance of women’s health, regular antenatal check-ups, preventive healthcare, and early medical consultation. Dr. Surbhi Handa and Dr. Sukriti Gupta created awareness about the invaluable benefits of breastfeeding and encouraged exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life.

Around 50 women benefited from the camp, receiving expert consultations, health education, and guidance on fertility, antenatal care, and breastfeeding.

The camp witnessed enthusiastic community participation, reaffirming DMC&H’s commitment to empowering women through awareness, early intervention, and accessible, quality healthcare.

Heartiest congratulations to the DMC&H, Ludhiana on receiving the "Exemplary Performance in the Field of Transplants" award from NOTTO India given by Smt. Anupriya Patel (Union minister of State in Health and Family welfare) at the 16th Indian Organ Donation Day 2026 in New Delhi.
This award recognizes the DMC&H team's exceptional contribution in the field of organ donation and transplantation, acknowledging that their commitment is commendable and has helped in giving new life to patients suffering from end-stage organ failure diseases.
