M.S.Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation is a non profit organisation registered as Trust in

the year 1992. Founded by Dr.C.Ramasubraman

ian, Consultant Psychiatrist with a mission to promote holistic

mental health by making mental health care available, affordable and accessible to all. By virtue of its range of mental health services, the Trust has emerged as a largest mental health

service provider in the State of Tamil Nadu. Taking cognisance of the need for mental health professionals to address the raising mental health

problems in our country, the Trust started M.S.Chellamuthu Institute of Mental Health and

Rehabilitation primarily to develop professionals to work in the field of mental health. Vision of the Institute:

Beyond Words: How Teachers are Redefining Classrooms with Conversational Intelligence ✨

Happy Schooling – a joint School Mental Health initiative by MS Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation and HCLFoundation – has been working since 2018 to foster the emotional well-being 💙 and academic excellence 📘 of nearly 12,000 students across 24 Madurai Corporation Schools.

As a key component of this initiative, the Happy Schooling team provided a one-day training on Conversational Intelligence 🗣️ for teachers, conducted between June and August 2025. These sessions, led by Prof. G. Gurubharathy 👨‍🏫, emphasized how purposeful conversations are essential for building trust 🤝 and cultivating emotionally supportive learning environments 🌱. This training highlighted appreciation 🌸 and acknowledgement 🌟 as powerful tools to strengthen leadership and foster positive connections.

Teachers also delved into the profound impact of language 📝 on behavioural responses—specifically, whether individuals tend to move away, move against, or move toward situations—and engaged in self-reflection on expressing appreciation 💐, regret 🙏, and constructive feedback 💡.

A significant highlight of the program was the introduction of the TRUST Model (Transparency, Relationship, Understanding, Sharing Success, Testing Assumptions) 🔑, which offered a practical framework for effective school leadership. Each session concluded with energisers ⚡ and a compelling call for generative presence 🌟

The impactful and timely program saw active participation 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫 from a total of 109 members of the teaching fraternity, comprising 24 School Heads 🎓 and 85 Teachers 📚 from the project schools.

Beyond conversational intelligence, the training also addressed critical emerging classroom challenges 🚸. Dr. Dheep, Founder-Chairman, TOPKIDS 👨‍⚕️, and Dr. S. Mathumathi, Consultant Psychiatrist at Ahana Hospitals 👩‍⚕️, led dedicated sessions on strategies for tackling gadget addiction 📱 and substance use 🚭 among children—issues of increasing concern within the teaching community.

Today, we proudly serve 24 Corporation Schools, nurturing emotional well-being and academic brilliance among our students.

Receiving this award represents not just a significant achievement for MSCTRF and the HCL Foundation but also a heartfelt celebration of the unwavering commitment displayed by the entire Happy Schooling team, school leaders, dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and most importantly, our inspiring students who motivate us every single day.
