Mega Awareness Camp & Launch of “Hearing on Wheels”
on World Hearing Day 2024 (3rd March 2024)
Theme : Living with Deafness: An Invisible Disability

On World Hearing Day (3rd March 2024), Karnal Medical Centre organized an awareness camp and launched "Hearing on Wheels" to spread awareness about hearing health care. The camp educated people on hearing loss causes and prevention. Around 250 people attended the campaign. Dr. Sanjay Khanna highlighted on the impact of hearing loss and spoke on available treatments. He emphasized on assessing infants' hearing ability, especially for low birth-weight and premature babies. Cochlear Implantee children, operated at Karnal Medical Centre, performed on stage on various acts like dance, singing etc.

The "Hearing on Wheels" is a specially designed medical van equipped with facilities to conduct hearing screening tests and provide basic counselling on hearing health. This is the first such initiative in North India and can significantly impact hearing healthcare access locally. The “Hearing on Wheels” is equipped to conduct primary hearing test, OAE. The vehicle will travel to different communities and rural areas of Haryana. It aims to screen people and spread awareness. This will further increase the chances of early detection followed by treatment.

The camp organized on World Hearing Day and launch of this innovative healthcare vehicle model “Hearing on Wheels” laid the foundations for taking hearing healthcare to people's doorsteps.
