Fracture around elbow is very notorious for stiffness and disability.
If not managed properly and timely it can turn a happy life to miserable and debilitating.

Managing such fracture require a definite guide line to get a good result. Results depends on many factors like-
1- whether fracture is open or closed wound
2- degree of fragmentation of bones
3 - quality of bones
4-Proper planning like CT SCAN and good quality of implants like plate and screws
5-Stable and rigid fixation and congruent joints
6- early mobilisation
7- Physiotherapy

Here I operated a young demanding patient who met an accident. He was managed well and finally he got fantastic result and was happy with smiling face.

Getting a goo results require orthopaedic principle to be followed. Bone is very delicate part of our body . It requires a tender love and care.
Sharing a case which was treated elsewhere without following principles and turned to non union and patient came to us.
Revision surgery is always difficult than primary surgery. Lots of fibrosis and poor bone quality makes challenging to any orthopedician.
Here we did surgery in single sitting in following steps-
1- Removal of plate and screws
2- freshening of bone ends
3-Dual column plating
4- Bone grafting from iliac crest

Finally bone united and patient enjoying his life.

Following orthopaedic principles of fixation is utmost important in getting a good result.
I am sharing a case which was operated elsewhere, presented to us after 2 months of surgery.
Revision surgery is always difficult procedure as compared to primary surgery.
Surgery was done in following steps in one sitting/
1 - removal of plate
2- freshening of bone ends
3 - Dual column fixation
4 - Bone grafting from iliac crest

Finally bone united and patient is happy and enjoying his life.

Sharing a case which required patient
‘s patience more than anything. In this case also it took almost one and half years with three surgeries to regain the motion and a Hope for life.
Some time we get such cases where bones are dead due to trauma and infection. In such cases dead bones are removed and new bones are gradually regenerated with help of a frame.
Bone is an incredibly dynamic and living tissue that responds remarkably well to physical mechanical stresses when guided precisely. This exact biological property—known as Wolff's Law—is why medical techniques like the Ilizarov frame application work so successfully.

Life is not always easy for each individual. Sometime it takes a lot to get back a smile 😊
Sharing an interesting case . Patient was initially operated elsewhere who presented to me with discharge of pus and non union.
Following steps were taken to treat him . Surgery was done in two stage-
1- Removal of plate , debridement, and. Putting antibiotics bone cement beads
2 -Once infection got over second surgery was done . Removal if cement beads and plating and bone grafting .
Union was delayed so once I put bone marrow aspirate too at fracture site under c arm guidance.
