‘The educator becomes the learner’.
For 12 years, I have been doing S2AI screw fixation and helped bring this technique to my region in North India.
Recently, while preparing to teach it to young orthopaedic surgeons, I realised something important — teaching makes you understand better. When you explain every step, every indication, and every possible mistake, you see the procedure with fresh clarity.
What we call “expertise” is only a small part of a much larger, ever-growing body of knowledge built by those before us. We are simply carrying it forward — refining it and passing it on.
The next generation will take it further.
And that is how surgery evolves.
