The incidence of detecting Hepatopancreatob
iliary disorders has also increased due to the evolution of better MRI, CT scan units and Endoscopic Ultrasound. Newer energy sources like CUSA, Harmonic scalpel, RFA, have revolutionized liver surgery by allowing easy identification of parenchymal, biliary and vascular structures and their subsequent ligation, thereby minimizing blood loss and its related complications. The resultant mortality rates for Liver and Pancreatic Surgery have fallen from 25% to less than 5% in our center and other centers the world over in the last decade.
