From Delhi to Mumbai — From Struggle to a New Beginning ❤️

Mr. Sandeep Kumar travelled all the way from Delhi to Mumbai battling acute-on-chronic liver failure, severe jaundice, massive ascites, sarcopenia, recurrent infections and prolonged critical illness.

After more than two weeks of ICU stabilization, he underwent a complex right-lobe living donor liver transplant, with his son donating a part of his liver.

Today, just 1½ months later, the transformation is remarkable—he is walking, recovering well and back to his normal life. His son, the donor, is also doing absolutely well. 🙏

A Second Chance at Life: Liver Transplant Transforms an Entire Family

Mr. Bangajit Sinha from Kolkata was diagnosed with chronic liver disease along with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) within UCSF criteria in April 2026. Given the stage of his disease, living donor liver transplantation offered the best chance for long-term survival and cure.

His wife, Mrs. Swapna Sinha, immediately stepped forward to become his donor. During her evaluation, she was found to have mildly elevated liver enzymes and mild fatty liver, making donation temporarily unsafe. Determined to save her husband, she adopted a disciplined lifestyle, worked hard over the next 1–2 months, and successfully lost 4–5 kg. Her liver health improved, and she was eventually cleared as a suitable donor.

The family also faced financial challenges while arranging the funds for transplantation. With timely support from Tata Trusts and their relentless determination, the transplant was successfully performed in July 2026.

Today, just over one month after the transplant, both Mr. Bangajit Sinha and Mrs. Swapna Sinha are recovering well and are ready to return home to Kolkata.

One Year. One New Life.

One year ago, Mr. Mukesh Bansal came to us with NASH-related chronic liver disease complicated by acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). His medical condition was further complicated by diabetes, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, and a previous stentless PTCA, making his management particularly challenging.

A living donor liver transplant was successfully performed in May 2025, with his wife selflessly donating a part of her liver to save his life.
Today, he returned for his one-year follow-up, healthy, energetic, and smiling. His recovery has been remarkable, with an excellent postoperative course and stable graft function. Seeing him looking younger and enjoying life with his family is the greatest reward for our transplant team.
This is the true impact of liver transplantation—it is not merely about survival; it is about giving patients a second chance at life, restoring their health, confidence, and happiness.

Every successful liver transplant is a story of courage, resilience, and a family's unconditional love.

Meet Mr. Dimple Kumar Jogatkar, who was battling acute-on-chronic liver disease, complicated by massive ascites, bilateral lower limb cellulitis, and facial herpes. Before transplantation, our multidisciplinary team spent two months stabilizing his condition to ensure the safest possible outcome.

His son made the ultimate gift of life by donating 60% of his liver to save his father.

The liver transplant was successful, and Mr. Jogatkar was discharged on Post-Operative Day 14. During recovery, he developed a minor bile leak, which was successfully treated with a PTP-assisted rendezvous ERCP procedure.

Today, just four months after transplantation, he has returned to a healthy, active, and fulfilling life.

A Liver Transplant Doesn't Just Save a Life—It Gives It Back

When Mr. Manoj Patil (48 years) first came to us, he was battling decompensated liver cirrhosis with Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure (ACLF).

He was critically ill:

Bedridden and unable to walk

Severe jaundice

Extreme muscle wasting (severe sarcopenia)

Weight reduced to only 55 kg

Massive ascites requiring tapping every 3 days

Our team spent nearly one month stabilizing him before he became fit enough for surgery.

His wife made the ultimate gift of life by coming forward as a living liver donor.

A successful Living Donor Liver Transplant was performed.

The journey, however, was far from easy.

Because of his poor nutritional status and severe sarcopenia, recovery was challenging. Although he was discharged in a stable condition after 14 days, he later developed an ileal perforation with bile leak, requiring:

Biliary stent internalization

Subsequent stoma closure

Today, 8 months after transplantation, Mr. Manoj has made an inspiring recovery.
