COPD, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is the third leading cause of death in India. India ranks second in the world for the number of patients with the disease, and first for the number of deaths caused by the disease. The disease manifests in individuals above 40 years of age, with shortness of breath, a chronic cough, wheezing and production of sputum being some of the features. Despite being widely prevalent in India, knowledge about the disease is limited, and people tend to take their respiratory health much more lightly than their cardiac health.
