What does it take to safely remove a tumor pressing directly against the spinal nerves? 🔬👇
Precision, patience, and next-level visualization.
We successfully operated on a 50-year-old patient suffering from an L1-L2 Intradural Extramedullary (IDEM) tumor, suspected to be a Schwannoma. When you are working inside the delicate space of the spinal canal, every single millimeter matters.
To ensure maximum safety and accuracy, we utilized the VITOM Exoscope alongside continuous intraoperative neural monitoring. As you can see in image_2.png, the “heads-up” 3D exoscope setup provides incredible magnification and ergonomics, completely transforming the microsurgical workflow.
The result? A safe, complete excision of the tumor (shown in image.png), protecting the patient’s neurological function while removing the compression.
Grateful for the technology that helps us push the boundaries of patient safety and surgical precision.
