Do you think you, you get very restricted time with your supervisor and you can’t squeeze in discussions of all your learners or solve all your doubts?
Evaluate if any of these pointers apply to you.
1. You have heavy caseload and it keeps increasing, but supervision hours stay the same
2. You can’t conceptualise the cases in clear and concise manner to save time and solve problems together
3. Rather than understanding the principles of ABA, you are focused on learning what might work for each kid
There are many things that might make you feel lost and unsupported if you have a high caseload. However, in such cases, it’s always better to ask for more hours or seek additional supervisory help from another supervisor after discussing it with yours.
Are you and your supervisor working on being able to tact problems faced by you while working with kids? This will certainly help discuss cases within shorter amount of time.
Not that I am saying don’t focus on individual cases. Of course, it’s very important to pay attention to the those details. However, it is also important that you learn to identify and implement ABA strategies. For example, you may be struggling to make decisions on how to fade out reinforcement or how to fade out prompts. In such a case, it’s important to understand ABA strategies and implement them correctly
