Acceptance is the root of rehabilitation and functional independence
In rehabilitation we often talk about exercises and repitation, but real work starts from the mind.
*Acceptance*is the engine that drives motivation to look for solutions and practice it persistently.
Acceptance of our disability also tends to keep us positive and help us look for solutions......
Solutions that will keep us independent in all aspects of our life. Leading a satisfactory independent and happy life.....

The journey of the therapist starts with building trust.....
Having faith that this person will help me with my problems. But to reach there, the therapist has to work to help the client to get aware of his problem and accept it completely with its prognosis. A task very hard to crack
Talking to the client
Knowing him, his environment, his psychology and almost all aspects of him to understand him and then help him with acceptance is a skill we learn in our training.
Once the problem is accepted the journey becomes a two way road. Clients get mentally ready and more optimistic towards solutions. Ready to start a new chapter in their life with enthusiasm.....

When I was getting trained as a therapist I remember in the practical training class of stroke, I had asked a question to my teacher

"Is the patient recovering because the brain is recovering or because we are training the body through exercises?" I think now I can answer that

confidently!

When we are working with patients it's complimenting each other.

The brain recovery is guided by the movements we give and the movements are refining by the newer pathways developed in the brain or the older pathways getting strengthened by

movements leading to functional recovery.

It has to have a goal and function as an endpoint.

As an occupational therapist we assess at every point what we can do to make a person independent? Assessing them physically, mentally and emotionally as all three have to work optimally with each other for a person to work efficiently.

Just therapy? Or he needs some assistance in terms of technology or device that will help him be functionally independent, including acceptance of their disabilities

Being Therapist....

I am not a social media person but thanks to I am starting this journey..
I have been a therapist before becoming an entrepreneur. The therapist in me keeps me human.
Being Therapist gets in close connection with another human and he comes to you with expectations. With the mindset of helping another human for functional independence the journey of connection starts.
From trust building to problem solving you hand holding them on their path of independence
Learning a new life lesson with each one
Being independent is one of the most important lessons I have learnt on this journey. The confidence we get to be able to do our own things and not to wait for others to help you is what makes our life worth living. Problems do come, health does have a downfall but keeping alive the spirit of life by accepting problems, finding solutions and leading a satisfactory independent and happy life.
