📗STORY BOOK MONDAY #4
ZIGBY. The Birthday Party! 📚
This book has a very short story of Zigby's Birthday Party with short phrases... So its a great book to start off with children who have just started to read.
Also a good one to teach the concept of birthday party and celebrations.
So many core words to target for vocab like
🌟Chocolate🍫
🌟Candy🍬
🌟Balloon🎈
🌟Cake 🎂
🌟Donut🍩
🌟Ice-cream🍦
I love to use these little minis/objects with the book to keep the kids engaged and also they love to manipulate them!

Toes, Ears and Nose : Lift the flap book! 📚
We teach body parts to children from a very young age and this book is a great one to start off with this concept.
In this book the baby is bundled in a mountain of clothes. It has alot of flaps underneath which there are body parts. Its like a peekaboo book that kids love to play again and again!
Two main concepts that can be targeted through this book are:

This book is such a great one for targeting a huge variety of vocabulary for the kids!

It is ideal to use for non-verbal kids and also for the ones who are on one-two word level and just developing language.

So this activity of 'cutting fruits and vegetables' is a hit and favourite for most of the kids.

Goals that can be targeted🎯:

🍅Verbs- cut, join, chop
🍅Adjectives-big, round, small
🍅Colors
🍅Reception of Fruits and vegetables
🍅Describing them
🍅Categorisation skills - Fruits vs Vegetables

It also helps with building the motor skills while kids cut them with the knife!

Here are some fun ways to use this book with kids in therapy:

🐛Time concepts- Days of the week, Day/ Night
🐛Food Vocabulary
🐛Counting
🐛Answering WH questions
🐛Sequencing
🐛Story Retelling
🐛Categorizing healthy vs junk food

To extend this story activity with kids, I also like to use these sequencing food stringing activity where kids can use their motor skills as well to sequence the food items.

If you've noticed your child stuttering/stammering , then try to know what is stammering, what are its symptoms, and what are the simple basic things u can do as parents to help those young kiddos to build their self-confidence.
Here are some of the tips you can follow:- 1⃣Slowing down may help fluency. TELLING them to slow down usually doesnt. Slow your own rate instead - it works!!
2⃣Value what they say. Maintain eye contact and wait for them to finish.
3⃣Make sure children know WHAT they say is more important than HOW they say it.
4⃣Never finish their sentences. Your words are not theirs words and it is not helpful to make it a race!
5⃣Pauses help a stammering child. They slow the pace and give time to process and plan. Take a second to respond.
6⃣Even if a child stammers, most of their speech will still be fluent. Dont forget to tell them when their talking is great!
7⃣There are loads of successful people who stammer. Make sure children hear about some great role models so they know they can still do whatever they want to do.
I hope these tips are helpful for parents who are dealing with kids who stammer.
