A sudden red patch in the eye can look alarming, but in many cases it is a subconjunctival hemorrhage — a small blood vessel that has broken on the surface of the eye. It is usually painless, does not affect vision, and often clears on its own within 1–2 weeks. 👁️
However, if redness happens repeatedly, lasts longer than expected, or is associated with pain, watering, irritation, or blurred vision, it should not be ignored. Early eye evaluation helps rule out underlying causes such as blood pressure fluctuations, strain, injury, or other ocular conditions.
If you notice unusual redness in your eye, it is always safer to get it examined by an expert.
