Working internationally on preventing Blindness due to Ophthalmic injuries

1. "Representing APOTS and ISOT at ASOT 2026, New Orleans. Eye trauma knows no borders, and neither should our efforts to prevent it and save sight."
2. "From Asia-Pacific to the world: proud to bring the voice of APOTS and ISOT to the Ophthalmic Trauma Playbook symposium. Knowledge shared is sight saved."
3. "Every eye injury is a race against time. Representing APOTS and ISOT today alongside global trauma experts, so that no patient loses that race."
4. "Forty-two years in the operating room have taught me that saving sight takes a global team. Honoured to represent APOTS and ISOT at ASOT 2026."

A tradition I never miss! For many years, whenever I'm at Frankfurt Airport, I sit down with my dear friend Albert Einstein. 😊I adore him not just for his brilliance in physics, but for his childlike curiosity, which is the same curiosity that drives every good surgeon, scientist and student."I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious." – Albert EinsteinMay we all stay curious, always. 🙏Natarajan Sundaram Natarajan Sundaram @

"For over a century, we believed we knew the cornea completely. Then Prof. Harminder Singh Dua showed us otherwise. Dua's Layer reminds every doctor that the human eye still has secrets to reveal, and that curiosity is the surgeon's greatest instrument." 👁️🙏

THE SIKH SCIENTIST WHO FOUND THE EYE'S HIDDEN 6TH LAYER 👁️

For over a century, doctors believed the human cornea had only 5 layers.

In 2013, Prof Harminder Singh Dua and his team at the University of Nottingham proved there is a 6th — a tough layer just 15 microns thin, hidden between the stroma and Descemet's membrane. It is now called Dua's Layer.

They proved it by injecting tiny air bubbles into donated corneas and viewing the separated layers under an electron microscope. That one discovery made corneal transplants safer, helped explain diseases like keratoconus, and forced eye textbooks around the world to be rewritten.

From Jalandhar to Nottingham — a name from Punjab now lives inside the human eye itself. He was later honoured with a CBE in 2019 for services to ophthalmology.

Proud moment for science. Proud moment for Sikhi. 🙏

Thanks to my Mexican friends , who took me as their family to Das Loft Restaurant. Vienna

The LOFT is one of the most spectacular restaurant and bar experiences in Vienna. Located on the 18th floor of the SO/ Vienna Hotel, right on the Danube Canal (Praterstraße 1, 1020 Vienna), it impresses above all with its huge glass façades, which offer a breathtaking 360-degree view over Vienna's city centre and St. Stephen's Cathedral. Another real eye-catcher is the enormous, colourfully lit art ceiling by Pipilotti Rist, which in the evening can even be seen from the street below.Natarajan Sundaram
