One of the most common comments I've heard throughout my years of practice goes something like this...
Client (often 20 years younger than me... and sometimes even older!):
"Mam, how can I become slim like you?"
My answer is always the same...
Please don't compare your body to someone who is not your age!
One thing I wish more people understood about weight loss...
Stop comparing your body to someone who is in a completely different stage of life.
If you're 50, don't expect your body to respond the way a 20 year old's does. Hormones, metabolism, muscle mass, stress, sleep, and even recovery all change with age. That is not a problem... it's simply biology.
When we compare ourselves to younger influencers or unrealistic transformations, we often end up feeling demotivated, losing confidence, or even trying unhealthy shortcuts to chase a goal that was never meant to be ours.
Instead, look up to people who are in a similar age group, with similar life circumstances, who have built healthier habits and become stronger, fitter, and happier... not necessarily smaller.
Your journey is always unique.
The goal isn't to have a 20-year-old's body. The goal is to have the healthiest, strongest version of your body at your age.
Celebrate progress, not comparison. BECAUSE THE ONLY PERSON YOU NEED TO BE BETTER THAN IS THE PERSON YOU WERE YESTERDAY!
