Degrees matter. They reflect your education and commitment to learning. But when a patient walks into your clinic in pain, what reassures them isn’t the letters after your name, it’s the confidence, empathy, clinical reasoning, and competence you bring into the room.

Your ability to listen, assess, explain, and guide their recovery is what builds trust.

In this episode of Physio Talks with Zandu Fast Relief, Dr. Ali Irani shares a powerful reminder for every physiotherapist: never let your qualifications become more important than the patient sitting in front of you.

Because great physiotherapy isn’t about proving how much you know, it’s about helping someone move better, recover better, and live better.

Do you agree?

I was not a runner. I was not an endurance athlete. To be honest, I didn’t even like it, simply because I didn’t have it in me to put in the effort. It was like the fox saying the grapes were sour just because it couldn’t reach them.

But now, every little bit of effort I put in goes a long way. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is my cardiovascular endurance.

Wow, cycling under fatigue and hypoxia is something else ! There’s a loud cry inside of me while outside I’m showing off all 32 of them! 😁

For a HYROX athlete, this can be useful because it trains the legs to handle a ā€œburningā€ environment similar to what happens during:

* Heavy sled pushes/pulls
* Wall balls after running
* Lunges under fatigue
* Repeated high-output efforts

Training with BFR reduces oxygen availability (local tissue hypoxia) in the working muscles, causing:

* Increased accumulation of metabolites (like lactate and hydrogen ions)
* Earlier recruitment of fast-twitch muscle fibres
* Greater muscle signalling for adaptation despite low cycling intensity
* Improved local muscular endurance and fatigue resistance!

My left leg has always been the weaker link. Because my right leg is stronger, it naturally takes up more load during training, running, and daily movements.

The result? My right side gets overworked… and that’s when those annoying aches and pains start showing up.

That’s where Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFRT) comes in.

By using BFRT on my weaker leg, I can create a strong muscle-building stimulus with lighter loads , helping my left leg catch up in:

šŸ’Ŗ Muscle size
⚔ Strength
🧠 Muscle activation
šŸƒā€ā™€ļø Performance capacity

The goal isn’t just to make one muscle bigger, it’s to build a balanced body where both sides can share the load efficiently.

Because the strongest athletes aren’t just strong… they’re symmetrical, resilient, and injury-resistant.

Training the weakness today to prevent the pain tomorrow. šŸ”„
