In the age of information and instagram reels, temptation to add new, innovative exercises is very high from patients'ends as well as therapists'.
While introducing them can be mentally engaging and refreshing and that has its place, we often forget how simple variation in speed, no of repetitions and different type of muscle work in the same exercise can bring about drastic improvements.
This is especially true in the case of Geriatric patients, sedentary workers or people who are starting workouts after a long break.
Changing too many things too quickly, has inherent risk bringing about new aches and pains.
While designing an exercise program only two things matters: functional goal of rehabilitation and current strength/ capacity of the patient.
Knowledge is a weapon, and weapons should be used wisely. :)
