Very happy to share that Mumbai Mirror featured our upcoming art exhibition today. 🎨

This exhibition is especially close to my heart because it brings together three of us who have shared a long journey through art — Dr Sonal Shah, our teacher Kishori Kadam, and me.

Most people know Sonal and me through medicine, but for many years, art has given us a completely different space to observe, learn, slow down and connect with nature. And much of that journey has been shaped by Kishori, who has guided and encouraged us over the years.

We are delighted to present “Wildlife in Colour” from 26th to 29th September 2026, 11 AM to 6 PM, at The Bombay Art Society, Bandra Reclamation, Mumbai – 400050.

It feels wonderful to share this very personal side of our lives with friends, colleagues, patients and well-wishers.

An interesting discussion on the evolving role of GLP-1 medications alongside bariatric surgery.

• Obesity is a chronic, relapsing disease — and treatment needs to be individualized.
• GLP-1–based medications have transformed medical management of obesity.
• Bariatric surgery remains our most effective and durable treatment for severe obesity.
• But it doesn’t always have to be medications OR surgery.
• Medications can be useful before surgery, and after surgery for inadequate weight loss or weight regain.
• The future is about using all the tools available to us — at the right time, for the right patient.

The goal is not to choose sides. The goal is better, long-term treatment of obesity.

Planning bariatric surgery but worried about insurance approval? Here’s what you need to know 👇

🔹 BMI matters
Insurance coverage for bariatric surgery is generally considered when the required medical criteria are fulfilled.

🔹 Medical necessity must be documented
Your weight history, obesity-related health problems and previous attempts at weight loss may need to be documented.

🔹 Your policy matters
Coverage, waiting periods, exclusions and approval requirements can vary between insurance companies and individual policies.

Day 2 at IFSO Toronto was packed with great learning, interesting conversations and new perspectives. But equally special were the people — catching up with old friends, meeting new ones and reconnecting with colleagues from across the world.

The IFSO Dinner was the perfect end to the day — lots of conversations, laughter and memories! 🥂✨

Heartiest congratulations to Dr. Muffi on becoming the next IFSO President! 👏 Wishing him a fantastic tenure ahead.

I’m heading back with new ideas, renewed energy and a very full heart. ❤️

But after being away for an entire week… I’m also SO ready to go home! 😂✈️🏠

Day 1 at IFSO 2026, Toronto 🇨🇦

Great learning, stimulating conversations and, best of all, reconnecting with friends and colleagues from across the world after so long! ❤️

It was a privilege to be invited to speak at the Women in Surgery session — always special to share a platform with inspiring women surgeons and exchange experiences and perspectives.

One of the best parts of conferences like IFSO is meeting people — old friends, familiar faces and some wonderful new ones too. The conversations outside the scientific sessions are often just as enriching as those inside!

And an added perk of being in Toronto — some precious time with family. ❤️

A lovely start to IFSO. Looking forward to the next few days!
