Destiny Can Be Overcome Through Knowledge ✨
A well-known Tamil wisdom expressed in the Siddha spirit says:
“விதியை மதியால் வெல்லலாம்”
Vidhiyai madhiyāl vellalām.
“Destiny can be overcome through intelligence, discernment, and right knowledge.”
If this is true, the important question is not merely, “Can God or a Guru save us?”
The deeper question is: "Did we acquire the right knowledge to recognise danger and save ourselves?"
Many spiritual seekers spend years learning about meditation and what happens after death. But sometimes we neglect the knowledge needed to remain alive—how to read danger, respect nature, understand warnings, prepare for emergencies, protect the body, and act without delay.
----------✨🛥️
There is a meaningful story about a Guru travelling in a small boat.
During the journey, the Guru began displaying his spiritual knowledge before the other passengers. He spoke about meditation, scripture, sadhana, and the importance of knowing the ultimate truth. He even boasted that he knows everything nobody better then him.
He asked the boatman: “Do you know how to meditate?”
The boatman replied, “No, Guruji.”
“Do you study the scriptures?”
“No, Guruji.”
“Do you practise spiritual sadhana?”
Again, the boatman replied, “No.”
The Guru shook his head and said, “Then you have wasted much of your life.”
A little later, a violent storm arose. Water began entering the boat, and it was about to sink. The boatman turned to the Guru and asked:
“Guruji, do you know how to swim?”
The Guru replied, “No, I do not.”
The boatman then said: “I am very sorry, Guruji. You said I had wasted part of my life—but now, because you cannot swim, you may lose your entire life.”
-------✨☯️
The lesson is not that meditation or spiritual knowledge is useless. The lesson is that spiritual knowledge must be joined with practical intelligence. Meditation may help us remain calm when the boat sinks, but knowing how to swim may save the body.
When the boat is sinking, knowing the philosophy of the ocean is not the same as knowing how to swim.
The true Siddha path is not an escape from earthly reality. It teaches us to master both life and consciousness. We must learn about liberation after death, but we must also learn what is necessary to survive before death.
Perhaps destiny is not overcome merely through prayer. Perhaps prayer connects us to guidance, while knowledge teaches us how to act upon that guidance.
Grace may give the warning. Knowledge helps us understand it. Courage makes us act.
---------🌅
So the final question is not only: "Why did God or the Guru not save them?”
It may also be:
“Did we learn the right knowledge, recognise the warning, and act before it was too late?”
