Nourish | Pooja Makhija NOURISH - It is something most of us forget. Or take for granted. Your body is irreplaceable and only you can feed, respect and NOURISH it. Eat. Energise. Glow.

Lost in the crazy merry-go-round we call life, many of us forget that food is not something to be feared, worshipped or abused. What you eat is what you are and it cannot be overemphasised how the food you give (your one and only) body impacts what you do, who you are and how you feel. To use the age old cliche of using only the best fuel for your brand new car (which may be very expensive but aft

er all, is replaceable) as this will impact how it will run, how fast it goes and how it ages – are you doing your body justice by feeding it anything just to get by with a 'eat to live' philosophy? Build the right relationship with food, reach your goal weight and fight disease with Pooja Makhija at NOURISH. Having successfully catered to over 10,000 clients including professionals, housewives, Bollywood stars, CEOs, sports personalities, models and the like, Pooja will work with you through Diabetes, PCOS, heart disease, weight gain and MORE so that you can NOURISH your body through the plate and not through a pill. Pooja will also teach you how to reclaim this long-lost relationship with food, so you can not only reclaim the fit, healthy body you have always wanted to have, but also reclaim the life you have always wanted to live. Think of it as a relay race.

Your nap lowers sleep pressure.
Caffeine takes over before the sleepiness does.

Teamwork, but make it neuroscience.

A “nappuccino” (or coffee nap) works because caffeine doesn’t reach peak levels in your bloodstream immediately. It typically begins taking effect around 15–20 minutes after consumption, while a short 10–20 minute nap helps reduce sleep pressure by clearing some adenosine from the brain. When you wake, caffeine has started blocking the remaining adenosine receptors, often leaving you feeling more alert than with either a nap or coffee alone.

The key is keeping the nap short. Cross into deeper sleep, and you may wake feeling groggy instead of refreshed.

I receive the Honour of Ashoka Award 2026, a civilian honour, with immense gratitude and deep humility.

For over 25 years, my purpose has remained unchanged—to help people build healthier lives through evidence-based nutrition and preventive health.

Awards are never the destination. They are a reminder that the work matters, and that there is still so much more to do.

Thank you to every individual, family, patient, reader, and follower who has placed their trust in me. This recognition belongs as much to you as it does to me.

Here’s to continuing the mission of building a healthier Bharat—one informed choice, one family, and one life at a time.

Jai Hind. 🇮🇳

Blue? Nah.

Mlue.

That oddly specific colour you become after days of chasing oceans, sunsets, and salty hair.

Happy Sunday!

Humbled and grateful for the recognition. Committed to the responsibility. Building a healthier Bharat, one life at a time. 🇮🇳 Jai Hind.

As a nutritionist, I’ve always said this:

Nature rarely works in isolation. It works through ecosystems.

Fermentation is a perfect example. Microorganisms transform simple ingredients into something far more bioactive than what existed before. That’s why fermented foods have remained part of traditional diets across cultures for centuries.

The interesting part? The same principle is now finding its place in skincare.

Our skin has its own microbiome, its own barrier, its own ecosystem. While eating fermented foods doesn’t directly translate to better skin, the science behind fermentation has inspired innovations designed to support skin health in entirely different ways.

I love seeing nutrition and skincare borrow from the same scientific principle: work with biology, not against it.

Maybe the future of healthy ageing isn’t about fighting nature.

It’s about understanding it better.

Most people think healthy travel means carrying “healthy foods.”

I think it means carrying foods that help you make better decisions when you’re tired, hungry, delayed, and surrounded by overpriced airport snacks.

Today’s flight meal:
🍑 Peaches for fibre and hydration
🥥 Coconut yogurt for satisfaction
🥚 Boiled eggs for protein
🥐 A mini croissant because holidays are meant to be enjoyed too
💊 Omega-3 as part of my daily routine

The real hack isn’t the food itself—it’s the order.

I follow meal sequencing even when I travel:
➡️ Fibre first
➡️ Protein next
➡️ Carbs last

This helps improve satiety, support digestion, and keep energy levels more stable throughout the journey.

Remember: health isn’t built by being perfect for a week. It’s built by making good decisions consistently, especially when your routine changes.

Your body is your greatest asset. Treat it like one.

For decades, spinach wore the crown of the world’s ultimate strength food—thanks in part to one very famous sailor.

While spinach is packed with folate, vitamin K, magnesium, nitrates, and antioxidants, it isn’t the iron powerhouse many people think it is. In fact, a historical reporting error helped exaggerate its iron content and fueled the myth for generations.

The real lesson? There is no single “superfood” that builds strength, burns fat, or transforms health overnight.

The strongest bodies are built the unglamorous way:
✔️ Consistent training
✔️ Adequate protein
✔️ Quality sleep
✔️ Smart nutrition habits

Sorry, Popeye. The spinach helped. The consistency did the heavy lifting.

One of the biggest reasons we overeat while travelling isn’t hunger—it’s being caught hungry.

When you’re starving, the brain shifts into “find food now” mode, making it much harder to make thoughtful choices. That’s why I always travel with portioned snack packs: roasted chana, makhana, nuts, and the occasional date bar.

Research shows that higher-protein, higher-fibre snacks improve satiety and can reduce overall calorie intake at subsequent meals. The goal isn’t to eat less—it’s to arrive at meals less desperate.

My travel rule:
Don’t leave hunger management to chance.

A few zip-lock bags take up almost no luggage space but can save you from mindless airport food, giant portions, and the “I’ll start again after the holiday” mindset.

Travel memories should come home with you.
Not unwanted kilos.

Now tell me
What’s the one snack you never travel without? I’d love some new ideas for my next trip.

The biggest mistake in nutrition is assuming that what works for one person should work for everyone.

Human metabolism isn’t static. It’s a constantly shifting interaction between biology, lifestyle, environment, and behavior.

The same calories, the same workout, even the same supplement can produce very different results in different people.

The ocean reminds us of this every day. Beneath a calm surface are currents you can’t see—but they shape everything you experience.

Your body works much the same way.

This fits beautifully with your style because it moves beyond food and into the deeper psychology and physiology of why health is never one-size-fits-all.
