Ganesh Chaturthi is here 🙏✨
And no celebration feels complete without Modaks!💛

This year, I tried a healthy version of Modaks, close to the traditional taste, but lighter, wholesome, and perfect for guilt-free festive indulgence🥰

Rolled Oats – 1 & 1/2 cups
Almonds – 10 to 12
Cashews – 10 to 12
Desiccated Coconut 🥥 – 1/4 cup
Jaggery Powder – 3/4 cup
Cardamom (Elaichi) – 2 to 3
Raisins (Kishmish) – 3 tbsp
Ghee 🧈 – 3 tbsp
Milk 🥛 – 2 to 3 tbsp

Directions:
1️⃣ Grind oats into a fine powder.
2️⃣ Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add oats, and roast till golden.
3️⃣ Add desiccated coconut, roast 1–2 mins.
4️⃣ Grind almonds & cashews, add to pan, roast till nutty aroma.
5️⃣ Add cardamom & raisins, mix well.
6️⃣ Add jaggery powder, roast 2–3 mins till light brown.
7️⃣ Transfer mixture to a bowl, add warm milk gradually to form dough.
8️⃣ While warm (not hot), shape into modaks.

For everyone who’s ever asked why we avoid green leafy vegetables on aatham or Chaudas, here’s your answer. Share this with someone who’s curious:

During these days of fasting and spiritual reflection, green leafy vegetables are avoided because they are harder to digest and considered rajasic or stimulating, which can interfere with the calm and sattvic energy of the fast. Simple, light foods help the body stay pure, balanced, and focused during prayers and rituals.

Your period changed? Don’t just call it “normal.” 🩷

If your period has suddenly gone from 5 days to 2–3, it can sometimes be a sign that something has changed hormonally. You may also notice:

• Brown spotting before your period
• Stronger PMS
• Poor sleep around your cycle
• Feeling more anxious or irritable

These changes can be connected, so it’s worth paying attention. 👀

Here are 7 simple habits to support better menstrual health: 🌿

1. Eat iron rich foods 🥬
Spinach, lentils, sesame seeds and other iron rich foods. Pair plant sources with vitamin C.
2. Get enough protein
Dairy, pulses, soy, or suitable alternatives.
3. Include healthy fats 🥑
Nuts, seeds and ghee in appropriate portions.
4. Exercise regularly 🏃🏻‍♀️
Stay active, but avoid excessive workouts or sudden increases in exercise.
5. Prioritise sleep 😴
Aim for 7–8 hours of consistent sleep.
6. Manage stress 🧘🏻‍♀️
Yoga, meditation, breathing exercises or simply taking some quiet time can help.
7. Eat regularly & stay hydrated 💧
Nourishing meals and adequate hydration go a long way.

And remember, a 1–2 day period can be normal for some women. But a new or persistent change in your cycle deserves attention. 🩺
