When students ask questions, why is the answer silence?
A democracy isn’t tested when everyone agrees.
It’s tested when people disagree, question, and protest.
If peaceful protests are met with crackdowns, if students are punished for raising their voices, then we need to ask ourselves—
Who is really being held accountable?
The right to free speech and peaceful protest isn’t a favour given by the government.
It’s a constitutional right.
You may agree or disagree with the students’ demands.
But if tomorrow the right to question is taken away from them, it can be taken away from anyone.
Because this is bigger than one university.
This is about the kind of democracy we want to live in.
Silencing dissent doesn’t strengthen a nation. Listening does.
