Research has shown that resistance training can be beneficial for people living with arthritis, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Beyond building strength, appropriately prescribed weight training can help reduce pain, improve physical function, preserve muscle mass, support bone health and enhance overall quality of life.

While osteoarthritis involves changes in the joint tissues, rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune inflammatory condition. Despite these differences, exercise can play an important role in managing the physical limitations associated with both.

The key is to train intelligently: choose appropriate exercises, progress gradually and modify training according to symptoms, joint involvement and disease activity.

Arthritis doesn’t automatically mean avoiding weights. It means training with the right approach.

Build strength. Improve function. Move with confidence.

Resistance training should complement medical treatment, with individual modifications where necessary.

This World Mental Health Day, let’s recognise exercise as more than a tool for physical fitness.

Regular physical activity can support emotional well-being, improve sleep quality, enhance cognitive function and help manage stress.

The benefits extend far beyond what we see in the mirror.

A stronger body and a healthier mind are not separate goals. They are interconnected aspects of overall health.

Make movement a part of your lifestyle, not just your fitness routine.

Stop chasing fads. Master the foundations.

Health and fitness don’t need to be complicated.
No miracle diet. No magic supplement. No trendy workout that changes everything overnight.

Get the fundamentals right — eat well, prioritise protein, lift weights, move daily, sleep enough, stay hydrated, manage stress and look after your heart.

Do these consistently, and you’ve already covered most of what actually matters.

Trends come and go. The fundamentals don’t.

Gandhi Jayanti reminds us that meaningful change often begins with the simplest things — discipline, consistency and personal responsibility.

The same principles apply to health.

You don’t need extremes. You need habits that you can follow, day after day.

Eat better. Move more. Train consistently. Rest well. Take ownership of your health.

Be the change. Start with yourself.

Happy Gandhi Jayanti. 🕊️

What a pleasure it has been coaching Dr Kareeshma Wadia | Jehan Eye Clinic on her nutrition and strength journey.

I’ve rarely come across a doctor who is this chilled out yet so focused—and someone who truly leads by example for her patients.

Strong, disciplined, consistent, and absolutely committed to practicing what she preaches.

Proud to be a part of her journey. 💪
