FREE COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CHECK-UP CAMP FOR POURAKARMIKAS

JSS Hospital, Mysuru, conducted a Free Comprehensive Health Check-up Camp for 105 Pourakarmikas from Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) today ie 7 th October 2026.

The camp was inaugurated by Dr. C. G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha; Shri S. P. Manjunath, Secretary–1, JSS Mahavidyapeetha; in presence of Smt. Savita M. K. (KAS), Commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation; and Dr. C. P. Madhu, Director, JSS Hospital, Mysuru.

The programme was attended by JSS Hospital management and staff, MCC officials, health inspectors and staff.

The camp focused on promoting preventive healthcare and safeguarding the health and well-being of Pourakarmikas, who play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and public health of the city.

As part of the camp, comprehensive health investigations and medical examinations were carried out. The Pourakarmikas were individually examined by specialist consultants, who provided personalised counselling, health advice and guidance based on their medical needs.

JSS Hospital remains committed to supporting the health and well-being of the community through accessible, preventive and comprehensive healthcare initiatives.

JSS Hospital, Mysuru, observed World Heart Day 2026 with an awareness programme held at the Main Lobby of the hospital on October 5, 2026. The programme was organised by the Department of Cardiology, JSS Medical College and Hospital, JSS AHER, Mysuru, in association with JSS College of Nursing, Mysuru.

The programme highlighted the importance of cardiovascular health and encouraged people to adopt healthy lifestyle practices undergo regular health check-ups and seek timely medical attention for heart-related symptoms. The theme of the programme, “Don’t Miss a Beat,” emphasised the importance of early detection and prevention of heart disease.

Dr. H. Basavana Gowdappa, Vice-Chancellor, JSS AHER, was the Chief Guest. Dr. C. P. Madhu, Director, JSS Hospital, Mysuru, presided over the programme. Sri. R. Mahesh, Director, Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, and Dr. D. Narayanappa, Principal, JSS Medical College, Mysuru, were the Guests of Honour.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries stressed the growing burden of cardiovascular diseases and the need for preventive healthcare. They highlighted the importance of maintaining a balanced diet, regular physical activity, avoiding to***co and harmful alcohol use, managing stress, and keeping conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol under control.

Students of JSS College of Nursing , Mysuru & Students of M.Sc Echo & Cardiography ( Dept of Cardiology ) performed skit to create awareness about heart problems , also poster presentation was organised along with some games for the participants .

Faculty from JSS Nursing college informed the importance of CPR to the assembled crowd.

The programme also served as an opportunity to create greater awareness about the importance of recognising warning signs of heart disease and seeking immediate medical care when required.

The event witnessed the participation of doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals, students and members of the public. The programme concluded with a renewed commitment towards promoting healthy hearts and brighter futures through awareness, prevention and timely medical intervention.

Sri Mahesh R , Director Medical Education ,JSS MVP was the Guest of Honour.

Dr.Chidambara S, District Surgeon, Mysuru was the chief guest on the occasion.

Nudi Namana was delivered by Professor Sri D A Shankar, University of Mysore on the occasion of 111th Jayanthi of Jagadguru Dr Sri Shivaratri Rajendra Mahaswamiji .

Artificial limbs were distributed to the needy on the Occasion by Sri Nitin of Asare Trust.

JSS Hospital, Mysuru, observed World Alzheimer’s Day 2026 on 24th September 2026 with a meaningful awareness program highlighting the importance of early recognition, diagnosis and appropriate care for people living with dementia.

The program was organized by the Department of Geriatrics, JSS Hospital, in association with the ARDSI Mysore Chapter, in line with the theme, “The Earlier You Know, The More You Can Do: A Dementia Diagnosis Matters.”

Dr. Hanumanthachar Joshi, President , ARDSI Mysuru chapter, and Principal , Shardavilasa College of Pharmacy, Mysuru participated as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the programme. In his address, he emphasized the importance of creating greater awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, encouraging early identification and diagnosis, and strengthening support for patients, families and caregivers.

Dr. C. P. Madhu, Director, JSS Hospital, Dr. Pratibha Pereira, HOD, Department of Geriatrics, and Dr. Kishore , HOD, Dept of Psychiatry And Dr. Shasthara P , Associate Professor, Dept of Neurology addressed the gathering and spoke on various aspects of dementia care, awareness and the need for a compassionate, community-oriented approach.

Doctor , caregivers and citizens participated in the program reflecting the growing importance of community awareness and support in addressing dementia.

As part of the program, memory games and interactive activities were conducted, providing an engaging way to promote awareness about memory and cognitive health. Prizes were distributed to the winners in recognition of their participation and performance.

The program served as a valuable platform for bringing healthcare professionals, caregivers and members of the community together to understand dementia better and encourage timely attention to memory-related concerns.
