थैलेसीमिया से पीड़ित बच्चों के लिए हर 2–3 सप्ताह में रक्त चढ़ाने की आवश्यकता होती है। रक्त इन थैलेसीमिया वॉरियर्स के लिए जीवनदान है. थैलेसीमिया एंड सिकल सेल सोसायटी ऑफ इंडिया (TSCSI) के 'रक्तमित्र अभियान' का उद्देश्य ऐसे बच्चों के लिए समर्पित स्वैच्छिक रक्तदाताओं का एक मजबूत नेटवर्क तैयार करना है, ताकि किसी भी बच्चे को रक्त के लिए इंतजार न करना पड़े।
