As Director of Akola Endoscopy Centre and Consultant at Nanavati Hospital (Mumbai) and Seven Star Hospital & Mothercare Nursing Home (Nagpur), I’ve been fortunate to contribute to the advancement of women’s health through innovative techniques like the bloodless “Aquadissection” for myomectomy, and by training doctors across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Through Pluro, I aim to bring that same blend of clinical excellence and compassion to a wider community. To make fertility care more transparent, accessible, and emotionally supportive for couples across India. Serving as Vice President of FOGSI (2017) and Chairman of the FOGSI Endoscopy Committee has allowed me to share my experiences and help shape the future of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery in India. Every rakhi begins with a wish for someone to tie it to. A first friend for life, a hand to hold through everything, a bond that outlasts every argument and every distance. It is one of the most treasured connections there is, and for so many families, it is exactly the one they are quietly hoping and working toward.

Some of the sweetest bonds take a little longer to arrive than we expect. And on a day like today, that wait can feel especially tender. Dr. Modi's Gynaecological Endoscopy Made Easy course brought together 14 surgeons for a focused day of learning, and the smaller group made all the difference. More hands-on time, deeper conversations, and the kind of close clinical exchange that a packed hall simply cannot offer.

This is how surgical skill is genuinely built, in focused rooms where every participant gets real attention and every technique gets properly refined. This Independence Day, break free from the fertility checklist. Somewhere along the way, couples have been led to believe there are five must-have tests to complete before they are even allowed to book a fertility consultation. It is a myth, and one that quietly delays the step that actually matters.

Haemoglobin, blood group, random blood sugar, urine routine, thyroid, all of these have their place in a proper workup, but not one of them is a gate you need to pass before we meet. None of them decides whether you should start. The conversation does, and everything else comes after.

If you have had a miscarriage, there are things you deserve to hear that too often go unsaid. So here they are:

It was not your fault. The vast majority of early miscarriages happen due to chromosomal factors entirely outside your control, not because of anything you did, ate, lifted, or felt.

One miscarriage rarely predicts the next. Most women who experience a miscarriage go on to have healthy pregnancies afterward.

Your grief is valid, no matter how early. There is no timeline of pregnancy at which loss stops being real, and you are allowed to mourn it fully.

You do not have to rush. Healing, physically and emotionally, happens at its own pace, and there is no prize for moving on quickly.

Ask for help if losses recur. A single miscarriage usually needs no investigation, but recurrent losses deserve proper evaluation.
