As a psychiatrist and parent, this topic shakes me. Our children need more than protection — they need awareness, support, and open conversations.

Understanding Depression: Beyond the Blues
Clinical Training Session for Aspiring Mental Health Professionals

Today at A Beautiful Mind Clinic, we conducted an engaging and educational session for psychology internship students, focusing on Depression and Counseling — helping bridge theoretical learning with practical application.

🧠 Dr. Rajiv Sharma, Consultant Psychiatrist, led the session on:
• How to take a structured clinical history for depression,
• Differentiating clinical depression from normal low mood and adjustment disorder,
• Understanding gender-specific presentations in males and females.

💬 Dr. Sarika Bisarya, Psychologist and Special Educator, conducted the counseling component, covering:
• Effective therapeutic communication,
• Techniques for managing depressive symptoms through counseling,
• Building rapport and psychoeducation strategies.

The A Beautiful Mind Clinic team, including Dr. Rajiv Sharma (Psychiatrist) & Dr. Sarika Bisarya (Psychologist & Special Educator, recently conducted a workshop for school counselors and EVGCs (Educational Vocational Guidance Counselors) of District West A. Dr. Neeraj Ma'am (DDE EVGB, DDE District West -A) led the session, which was coordinated by Ms. Anju, the CIC/Nodal Officer EVGC for District West A. The event was organized by Sh. Harish Kumar Manocha, Vice Principal at Karampura Industrial Area, G(Co-ed) SSS.

The workshop focused on MENTAL HEALTH for children, covering a broad range of teenage issues such as career guidance, drug use, s*x education, friendships, financial matters, parental relationships, and the influence of social media. It also addressed critical MENTAL HEALTH concerns, including child abuse, substance abuse, social phobia, OCD, panic disorder, and depression.

The team was encouraged to see that MENTAL HEALTH for children is being discussed at this level and appreciated the active participation from the counselors. They showed a strong eagerness to learn more and shared their challenges in dealing with parents, students, and even school teachers. The success of this session has led to an invitation for further workshops, extending to school counselors throughout Delhi. It was an honor for the team to contribute to the ongoing conversation on MENTAL HEALTH for children, and they look forward to future sessions.
