Sanjivini Society for Mental Health

Sanjivini Society for Mental Health Sanjivini provides free and confidential counselling to anyone experiencing emotional distress, as well as rehabilitation services for serious mental illness.

Sanjivini is a registered non-profit voluntary organization that has been addressing the mental health needs of the community since 1976. We provide free and confidential counseling to anyone above the age of 18 who is experiencing emotional distress, as well as rehabilitation services for individuals dealing with severe mental illness’ such as schizophrenia. Due to the growing needs of counseling

and mental health facilities in recent times, Sanjivini tries to provide access to mental health support for individuals who may not be able to afford it otherwise. Crisis Intervention: Sanjivini runs two Crisis Intervention Units where free counselling is offered to clients in person, or over the phone. A trained volunteer guides them through their emotional and psychological difficulties, providing them with the support they need to overcome their distress. All services are completely confidential, and a combination of awareness and sensitivity creates a safe space for clients to discuss issues ranging from depression and su***de to substance use and other mental traumas. Rehabilitation Centre: The Rehabilitation Centre provides services for those individuals who have undergone psychosis of various kinds, and also provides support and education to their families. In conjunction with an in-house psychiatrist, the counselors aim at facilitating social skills of the clients, so that they can cope with the world outside in a healthy manner. Our Rehabilitation Centre also provides daycare facilities, meeting the need to fill the space between home care and psychiatric treatment. Referral Service: Over the years, Sanjivini has built a valuable network of agencies and institutions who offer specialized help in all aspects of mental health. This enables us to help our clients with legal, medical, psychiatric, and specialized help. Community Outreach Program: Sanjivini has worked dedicatedly in building acceptance in society towards counseling and psychological help, through various aids of literature, slide shows, plays, and workshops. We reach out to dispel the ignorance and myths that surround mental health. Basic Counselling Skills Workshop: In 2003, Sanjivini began a 3 week workshop consisting of modules facilitating self-growth through an education in Basic Counselling Skills. Immensely popular, this Workshop enriches its participants by making them more aware of the qualities that enable a better human connect – be it in teaching, team leading, parenting, or other aspects of work and living. In recognition for its services to society and its dedication towards mental well-being, Sanjivini Society for Mental Health was awarded the Sanskriti Award in 1982, and the Delhi Government Award in 1988.

As Sanjivini nears its 50th anniversary, we are delighted to bring you another meaningful film screening in our ongoing series of events celebrating mental and emotional wellbeing - “Aunty Sudha Aunty Radha”, in collaboration with Kriti Film Club.

The film follows the lives of two widowed sisters, aged 86 and 93, who live with their adopted family of domestic help in the village of Lahra, three hours away from India’s capital city. Pulling along on their walkers, the sisters do as they please, paying no heed to anyone’s unsolicited advice. With a rare acceptance of old age and all that it brings, they spend their time gossiping, watching TV, soaking in the sun, and bonding with their help - a heartwarming portrayal of community, companionship, and dignity in aging.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film curator and session facilitator, Aanchal Kapur. Aanchal is the founder of Kriti Film Club, a documentary curator and programmer, and has facilitated numerous film screenings and conversations over the years.

The film screening and discussion are free of cost and will be held on Saturday, 22nd November, from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm at our Qutub Institutional Area Center, New Delhi. It is open to anyone aged 16 and above. Please register using the Google Form linked below, as seats are limited:

As part of Sanjivini’s journey towards its 50th foundational year in March 2026, this event brought together professionals, Sanjivini Volunteers, and mental health advocates for an engaging and thought-provoking evening.

The panel featured insightful discussions by:

Sanjivini, in collaboration with Mahavir International Delhi (MID), conducted the second Community Outreach Program (COP) under the ongoing “Asha Kiran” initiative on 8th August 2025 at the Sanjivini premises. Supported by the SSS Foundation, this workshop on “Alcoholism” brought together 35 social workers from around 10 NGOs serving underprivileged communities.

Led by Sanjivini Volunteer Counsellors Vickie and Veena A., the session used interactive discussions, presentations, and video clips to provide participants with practical tools to address alcoholism in their communities, while also safeguarding their own emotional well-being.

At the close of the workshop, MID awarded participation certificates to all attendees. Many participants appreciated the practical insights gained and expressed their commitment to applying these learnings in their fieldwork.
