Going back to the place , ( University college of Medical Sciences , GTB, Shahadra, )where once I went as a student to give my final MD Medicine exams in 2011, was pure nostalgia.

Extremely delighted and honoured to be invited as a speaker .

It was an honour and privilege to be on podium
And talk about “ Emerging therapies in GOUT”. In Annual Delhi Rheumatology Association update

Extremely thankful to Dr Sundeep Upadhyaya and Dr Neeraj Jain for this wonderful opportunity where I read and tried my best to convey few useful points .

# Newer Uricosuric drugs like Dotinurad and Verinurad ( URAT1 inhibitor ) seem useful esp in following scenarios
1) In CKD state 3 and 4 , where other drugs are contraindicated.
2) Improve cardio metabolic functions ( by not inhibiting ABCG2 transporter, which is partially inhibited by febuxostat) . ABCG2 has role in excreting Indoxyl compunds which if accumulated in blood leads to risk of cardiovascular events.
3) Anti inflammatory property
4) Approved in Japan in 2020, and China in 2025
5) Available in India only for research

It was an honour to be a part of “ AS Assembly 2025”, a well crafted meeting .

Annual event with engaging talks and discussions.

Heartfelt thanks to Dr ( General) Ved Chaturvedi , who takes initiative to bring all the Rheumatologists , from all over India, on one platform.

Got a chance to present an interesting case on “ Female Spondyloarthritis “.

Few interesting facts
1) Tarsal tunnel like presentation can happen
2) Females usually present late
3) More peripheral joint involvement like knees ankles
4) Neck involvement is more often than classic inflammatory backache
5) Never fail to revisit diagnosis in case of dilemma
6) Single test never classifies anyone . Its combination of multiple reports and examination along with history ..

When one is dressed up to go back to her Alma mater after 13 years to relive the under graduate days and land up chairing a wonderful session in Rheumatology , that feeling is ineffable.

Had a privelege and an honour to present an interesting case on “ Unusual presentation of Sjogren Syndrome “ in Delhi Rheumatology Update 2025

- Here I presented the case where patient presented to me with CNS symptoms of aseptic encephalitis.
- 3 years down the course , pt presented with typical symptoms of disease like dry eyes , dry mouth and inflammatory polyarthralgia.

Sjogren Syndrome :
- common and easily missed disease
- Sometimes usual manifestations like dry eyes and dry mouth can present later in disease course
