Is a nosebleed during pregnancy normal? π€π©Έ
Itβs a common concern that often catches moms-to-be by surprise! While it can be frightening, Epistaxis (nosebleeds) is actually quite common during pregnancy due to increased blood flow and dilated blood vessels.
Quick Tips to Manage a Nosebleed:
β
Pinch & Lean: Firmly pinch the soft part of your nose and lean forward (about 45 degrees). Avoid leaning back to keep blood out of your throat.
β
Ice Pack: Apply a cold compress to the bridge of your nose to help blood vessels constrict.
β
Stay Hydrated: Keeping the nasal passages moist can help, especially in dry weather.
When should you call your doctor?
While most episodes are harmless, keep an eye out for these Red Flags:
π© Bleeding that doesnβt stop after 20 minutes.
π© Very frequent occurrences.
π© If accompanied by high blood pressure or severe headaches.
In these cases, please reach out to your Gynecologist or an ENT specialist for a check-up! π©Ί
