She's not "too emotional."
She's carrying an invisible load.

She remembers birthdays.
She books doctor's appointments.
She plans meals.
She manages work deadlines.
She worries about her children's future.
She checks on ageing parents.

She keeps everything moving... often without anyone noticing.

This invisible responsibility has a name: the mental load.

As a psychiatrist, I meet many women who tell me, "I'm exhausted all the time."

They often think they're just not coping well enough.

But the reality is different.

Constantly planning, remembering, anticipating, and caring for everyone else takes emotional energy. Over time, this invisible load can contribute to stress, anxiety, burnout, sleep problems, and emotional exhaustion.

You don't have to wait until you break before you give yourself permission to rest.

Rest isn't a reward for finishing everything on your list.

It's something your mind and body need to stay healthy.

I'd love to hear from you.

What's one invisible responsibility you carry that most people don't notice?

If this resonates with you, please share it. Someone in your circle may need this reminder today.

Everyone praises them:

"You're so strong."

But strength can sometimes mean:

"I learned nobody was coming."

As a psychiatrist, I often meet people who became the helper, caretaker and problem-solver because they had to.

Strength is beautiful.
But being held is beautiful too.

❤️ Tag the strong one who never asks for help.

“It started as ‘just for sleep’… now I can’t function without it.”

Many people don’t realize that some cough syrups can become addictive when used repeatedly or in high amounts. What begins as relief from stress, sleep problems, anxiety, or emotional pain can slowly turn into dependency.

Signs of cough syrup addiction may include:

• Craving the syrup even without cough
• Feeling relaxed, numb, or “high” after taking it
• Needing higher doses over time
• Mood swings, poor concentration, or sleep issues
• Hiding usage from family members
•
Addiction to cough syrup is a real mental health and medical concern — especially in teenagers and young adults. Early help can prevent serious physical and psychological complications.

As a psychiatrist, I provide confidential, non-judgmental support for substance use concerns, anxiety, stress, sleep problems, and addiction recovery.

If you or someone you love is struggling, seeking help early can make recovery easier and safer.

“Why does your mind keep replaying the same conversation?”

“Did I say something wrong?”
“Why did they react like that?”
“I should have said this instead…”

If your mind keeps going back to the same moment again and again— it’s not because you’re weak.

It’s because your brain is trying to protect you from embarrassment, rejection, or making a mistake again.

But instead… it traps you in a loop of overthinking, anxiety, and exhaustion.

Here’s the shift:

You don’t have to solve every thought. You just need to notice it… and come back to the present.
You don’t have to fight your mind. You can learn to guide it.

If overthinking is affecting your peace, sleep, or relationships, it’s okay to seek help.

This penguin isn’t funny. It’s emotionally exhausted.

Most people aren’t depressed. They’re just emotionally tired.

Showing up every day. Carrying responsibilities. Smiling through exhaustion.

As a psychiatrist, I see this daily. When emotional fatigue is ignored, the mind and body eventually force a pause.

Rest isn’t laziness. It’s mental hygiene.

Love Shouldn’t Feel Confusing | Psychiatrist Insight on Healthy Relationships

Many people seek psychiatric support because their relationships feel emotionally confusing and mentally exhausting. As a psychiatrist, I often see individuals questioning themselves when the real issue is emotional inconsistency in the relationship.

Healthy relationships are not perfect, but they are emotionally clear. Confusion usually arises from mixed signals, inconsistent communication, unclear intentions, or emotional unavailability. When this happens, the nervous system remains on high alert, leading to anxiety, overthinking, sleep disturbances, and emotional burnout.

From a mental health perspective, love should not require constant analysis or decoding. Emotional clarity creates psychological safety. Confusion, on the other hand, activates stress responses and can negatively impact self-esteem, emotional regulation, and overall mental wellbeing.

If a relationship leaves you frequently anxious, second-guessing, or emotionally unsettled, it is important to listen to what your body and mind are communicating. Mental health improves when relationships provide consistency, emotional availability, and respectful communication. If relationship stress is affecting your mental health, consider seeking professional psychiatric guidance.

Emotional clarity is not a luxury — it is essential for psychological wellbeing.

If you are confused let's talk!

Being emotionally intelligent changes how you experience people.

You stop asking

❌ “Why are they like this?”
and start realising

✅ “There is a reason — and it’s not my responsibility to fix it.”

Understanding someone’s pain doesn’t mean:

• You tolerate disrespect
• You stay in toxic dynamics
• You silence your own emotions

It simply means you don’t poison yourself with hatred.

That’s emotional maturity.
And it’s deeply freeing.

A 74-year-old woman was asked why she runs every morning at 5 a.m.

Not for fitness.
Not for discipline.
Not to prove anything.

She simply said:
“I do it for myself.”

That one sentence holds so much wisdom.

Most of us spend our lives running for approval, validation, or fear of falling behind. Somewhere along the way, we forget how to do things just because they feel right for us.

Real motivation isn’t loud.
It doesn’t announce itself.
It quietly shows up — every single day.

And when you start choosing yourself, consistently and without guilt, that’s not selfishness.
That’s healing.

What’s one thing you do purely for yourself?

"LOVE without ANXIETY" Series Day 3

If they wanted to, they would” is incomplete.

Yes — effort matters. But so does emotional capacity.
Someone can care about you and still be unable to show up consistently. That doesn’t make them bad. But it does give you important information.
Love isn’t just intention. It’s behaviour over time.
