At 81, Mr H.N. Ganga Dhar presented with severe pain, swelling of the leg and tissue changes in his right foot.
Further evaluation, including CT angiography, revealed a large ruptured popliteal artery aneurysm, along with generalised arterial ectasia and reduced heart pumping function with an ejection fraction of 30%. Given his age, cardiac condition and complex vascular anatomy, the case presented significant challenges. Under the leadership of Dr C. P. S. Chauhan, Senior Director โ Radiology & Vascular Interventional Radiology noida, the clinical team planned a minimally invasive endovascular approach.
The team successfully used endovascular intervention to seal the ruptured aneurysm and restore blood flow to the affected limb, while carefully managing the associated high-risk factors. Following the procedure and subsequent care, Mr Ganga Dhar made a significant recovery.
Watch this remarkable patient success story to understand the challenges of a ruptured popliteal artery aneurysm and how advanced endovascular techniques can provide a minimally invasive treatment option for appropriately selected high-risk patients.
