6 common Blood Tests which I always ask my Patients to get it done before the treatment
1. Complete Blood Count (CBC)
Detects anemia (low hemoglobin), infection (high WBC), or clotting issues (platelets).
Low hemoglobin patient may fatigue quickly, needing modified exercise intensity.
Low platelets avoid aggressive manual therapy or invasive techniques due to bleeding risk.
2. Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) /C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
Indicators of inflammation or infection.
Elevated values may suggest underlying inflammatory conditions (RA, ankylosing spondylitis) or flare-ups where intense exercise may need postponing.
3. Blood Glucose (Fasting / HbA1c)
Crucial for diabetic patients undergoing rehabilitation.
Uncontrolled sugars increase risk of delayed healing, neuropathy, and hypoglycemic episodes during exercise.
4.) Vitamin D (25-Hydroxy Vitamin D)
Essential for bone health, calcium absorption, and muscle function.
Low vitamin D increased risk of osteoporosis, fractures, muscle weakness, and chronic pain syndromes.
Deficiency may delay recovery in post-fracture, post-surgery, or elderly patients.
Supplementation and weight-bearing exercises become priority.
5.) Vitamin B12
Vital for nerve health and red blood cell formation.
Deficiency peripheral neuropathy, tingling, numbness, balance issues, cognitive changes.
Common in vegetarians/vegans and elderly.
Nerve healing & proprioception training may need to be emphasized.
6.) Serum Calcium
Key for muscle contraction, nerve transmission, bone strength, and clotting.
Low calcium muscle cramps, tetany, bone fragility.
High calcium fatigue, confusion, muscle weakness (often linked to parathyroid or cancer).

IASTM stands for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, and it is a type of manual therapy used in physical rehabilitation and sports medicine. The effects of IASTM are varied and can include:

Pain reduction: IASTM can help alleviate pain caused by various conditions such as muscle strains, tendonitis, and other types of soft tissue injuries.

Improved mobility: IASTM can help restore normal range of motion and flexibility to affected joints and tissues.

Enhanced tissue healing: IASTM can stimulate blood flow and promote healing in damaged tissues, improving their strength and flexibility.

Reduced inflammation: IASTM can help reduce inflammation and swelling in affected areas, promoting faster recovery.

Better functional performance: IASTM can improve functional performance by restoring normal movement patterns and reducing pain and discomfort.

Overall, IASTM can be an effective tool for managing various types of soft tissue injuries and improving patient outcomes. However, it is important to note that results may vary depending on the individual patient and the underlying condition being treated.

Effects of kinesiology taping

Pain Reduction: Kinesiology tape can help relieve pain by reducing pressure and providing support to the affected area.

Increased Blood Flow: The tape can promote circulation and increase blood flow, helping to reduce inflammation and promote healing.

Improved Muscle Function: Kinesiology tape can improve muscle function and reduce muscle imbalances by supporting weakened muscles and promoting proper alignment.

Reduced Swelling: The tape can help reduce swelling by improving lymphatic drainage and reducing fluid buildup.

Improved Range of Motion: Kinesiology tape can improve range of motion and flexibility by reducing muscle tension and promoting proper movement patterns.

Enhanced Recovery: The tape can aid in the recovery process by reducing muscle soreness, stiffness and providing support to the affected area.

Dry needling is a form of physical therapy that involves the insertion of thin needles into the skin to treat muscle pain and discomfort. However, like any medical procedure, it has certain contraindications that should be considered before undergoing treatment. Some of the common contraindications of dry needling include:

Pregnancy: Dry needling is not recommended for pregnant women, as the safety and effects on the fetus are not fully known.

Infections: Patients with active infections or skin lesions should avoid dry needling, as it can spread the infection to other areas.

Blood disorders: Patients with bleeding disorders or those taking blood thinning medications should avoid dry needling.

Cardiac conditions: Patients with heart conditions or pacemakers should avoid dry needling, as it may affect their heart rate or rhythm.

Nerve damage: Patients with nerve damage or neuropathy should avoid dry needling, as it may cause further damage.

Cancer: Patients with cancer or undergoing chemotherapy should avoid dry needling, as it may affect their immune system.

It's important to consult with a licensed healthcare provider, such as a physiotherapist or doctor, to determine if dry needling is appropriate for your condition and if there are any contraindications that apply to you.

5 Superb effects of Dry Needling

Pain Reduction: Dry needling can effectively relieve pain and improve the quality of life for people with chronic pain conditions.

Increased Mobility: Dry needling can improve range of motion, flexibility and reduce muscle stiffness, leading to increased mobility and improved function.

Reduced Inflammation: The insertion of needles into trigger points can help reduce inflammation and promote healing by improving blood flow and reducing muscle tension.

Improved Performance: Dry needling can improve athletic performance by reducing muscle tightness, increasing muscle activation and improving biomechanical function.

Reduces Muscle Spasms: Dry needling can effectively reduce muscle spasms, cramps and knots, improving overall muscle function and reducing discomfort.
