We talk so much about women’s health in terms of hormones, nutrition, exercise, and sleep.

But there’s another part of health we often ignore.

Joy.

The things that make you lose track of time.
The hobbies you loved as a child.
The activities that calm your mind and make you feel present.

Today, while spending time with these little artists, I was reminded that taking care of yourself isn’t always a workout, a supplement, or a healthy meal.

Sometimes it’s simply making space for joy. 🤍

What’s one hobby you’ve been neglecting lately?

Story of my life

30/04/2026

Drink 2.5–3 litres of water daily.

That’s correct—but incomplete advice.

As an OB-GYN, here’s what you actually need to understand 👇

💧 WHY hydration matters in pregnancy

✔️ Supports increased blood volume
→ Plasma volume rises by ~40–50% to support the baby

✔️ Maintains amniotic fluid levels
→ Especially important in 2nd & 3rd trimester

✔️ Prevents common issues
→ Constipation, urinary infections, headaches, fatigue

✔️ Improves circulation & nutrient delivery to the baby

📊 HOW MUCH is actually needed

👉 On average: 2.5–3 litres per day
But this varies depending on:

• Body weight (≈ 30–35 ml/kg)
• Climate & activity level
• Symptoms like vomiting or acidity

❌ COMMON MISTAKES I SEE

• Drinking large amounts at once instead of spacing it out
• Ignoring electrolytes (only plain water all day)
• Not hydrating enough in the morning
• Forcing excessive water beyond comfort

✅ WHAT I RECOMMEND

✔️ Sip water throughout the day (not in one go)
✔️ Start your morning with hydration
✔️ Add coconut water / lemon water for electrolytes
✔️ Use urine color as a guide → pale/light yellow = well hydrated

🧠 THE SCIENCE (simple)

Your body retains more fluid in pregnancy to:
→ Support the placenta
→ Build amniotic fluid
→ Increase circulation

But overloading water at once doesn’t help—
👉 your body absorbs better with steady intake + electrolytes.

Save this—you’ll need it later 🤍
