Medical facilities in Bihar, till eighties were so meager that heart patients had to go to higher centers viz. – Vellore, Delhi, Calcutta etc., in the hope of getting a new lease of life. Specialized treatment facilities were scanty in those days and only Indira Gandhi Institute of Cardiology (IGIC) had secondary care facilities for cardiac ailments. Visualizing the pains and problems of cardiac p

atients and their attendants, Dr. A. Thakur the then Director of IGIC decided to set up a hospital for tertiary care of cardiac patients. His dream came true in the form of HEART HOSPITAL in Kankarbag, Patna on November 14, 1994 – the first of its kind in private sector in Bihar. Since then Heart Hospital gradually grew in size and today
provides almost all the modern treatment facilities like non-invasive and invasive cardiac investigation, Cath lab procedures viz. – angiography (coronary, renal etc.), PTCA, ASD, PDA – device closures, EPS & RFA etc. and Heart Surgeries viz – CABG, Valve replacement, ASD – VSD – PDA- Surgical closures etc.

A Remarkable Achievement in Complex Cardiac Care at Heart Hospital, Patna

We are proud to share the successful treatment of a high-risk cardiac case by Senior Interventional Cardiologist, Dr. Vinit Kumar, MD, DM (Cardiology), FESC, FSCAI, FACC, FASCP at Heart Hospital, Patna.

The patient presented with effort angina, moderate LV dysfunction, and severe coronary artery disease. Coronary angiography revealed Triple Vessel Disease (TVD) with LAD CTO and RCA CTO. The patient was not willing for CABG surgery, and a complex PCI strategy was planned.

A challenging LAD CTO angioplasty was successfully performed using GAIA III Next wire (after failure with GAIA II Next), achieving TIMI III flow and an excellent angiographic result. The RCA CTO intervention was subsequently planned as a staged procedure.

This case reflects the expertise, advanced technology, and commitment of the Heart Hospital team towards providing world-class interventional cardiac care.
