I have been calling Seaview my home for nearly 20 years now... a few years ago I started teaching the rather un-imaginatively named summer 'Church Hall Yoga' classes when the kiddies were old enough to be left and not get into trouble for an hour each morning! St Peter's church in the village is a beautiful example of a community church...it's in the heart of the village , it's open for prayer and quiet reflection most of the time, it has a growing attendance and has brilliant church fetes and events and Sunday services with coffees with delicious cakes afterwards ๐
The Church hall's blue carpet was desperately in need of replacing last year - it had done 40 years and was on the wrong side of charming!
Someone suggested a Church Hall Yoga fundraiser and everyone sponsored 'their mat for 2026' and to cut a long story short, this new floor went down in time for the start of the summer and here it amazingly is ๐๐ป.
We have had over 3 weeks now stepping, stamping, rising and falling in the new space and it is utterly brilliant. This is such a joyous example of people getting involved and connected through yoga. Some people say Yoga is their church, some people have issues with yoga and church altogether, some people draw similarities, some don't think about it. Either way this is a beautiful example of one community coming together to help another. generously giving to benefit a village, the people in it and generations of people after them.
Thank you everyone...here's to many more CHY sessions ahead. And anyone looking for a brilliant space in the village (or to drop into a yoga class next week)... head to St Peter's, go through the arch and turn right and up the stairs ๐๐โ๏ธ๐
