Your child’s immune system doesn’t need a magic booster. ❤️
Healthy nutrition, adequate sleep, physical activity, vaccination, and a smoke-free environment are some of the most important ways to support normal immune health.
And remember: frequent colds in young children can be completely normal, particularly after starting daycare or school.
If your child is experiencing unusually severe, recurrent, or difficult-to-treat infections, speak with your pediatrician or an immunologist for an appropriate evaluation.

Can vaccines cause autoimmune diseases? 🤔
Science has studied this for decades.
✔ Millions of people studied
✔ No evidence of increased autoimmune disease risk
✔ Rare side effects are monitored and not the same as chronic autoimmune disease
Infections like flu or COVID-19 are actually more likely to trigger immune problems than vaccines.
💡 Bottom line: vaccines are highly studied, very safe for most people, and their benefits far outweigh rare risks.

Fact Friday with Immuno!
When you have a fever, your first instinct might be to think something has gone terribly wrong.
But in many cases, a fever is actually a sign that your immune system is hard at work.
When immune cells detect an infection, they release chemical messengers called cytokines. These signals tell your brain to raise your body's temperature set point, creating an environment that can make it harder for some microbes to thrive while helping certain immune defenses work more effectively.
That doesn't mean every fever should be ignored. While many fevers are mild and resolve on their own, some require medical evaluation—especially in young infants, when temperatures are very high, symptoms are severe, or the fever persists.
🦁 Immuno says: "A little heat can be part of your body's defense strategy!"
💬 Have you ever wondered why we get fevers? What other immune myths or facts would you like us to explain next?

🍊 Myth Monday with Immuno!
Myth: "Taking Vitamin C every day prevents the common cold."
🕵️ Verdict: BUSTED!
Vitamin C is essential for a healthy immune system, but it isn't a magic shield against cold viruses.
Here's what science tells us:
🧬 It helps immune cells function properly.
🛡️ It supports your body's natural defenses.
❌ It doesn't significantly reduce your chances of catching a cold if you're generally healthy.
The good news? Regular Vitamin C intake may help shorten the duration and slightly reduce the severity of a cold if you do get sick.
The best way to reduce your risk of infections is to combine good nutrition with healthy habits like quality sleep, regular exercise, hand hygiene, stress management, and staying up to date with recommended vaccinations.
💬 Have you ever reached for orange juice or Vitamin C tablets when you felt a cold coming on? Let us know in the comments!

Raising awareness on Hereditary angioedema. It is a group of disorders with recurrent attacks of angioedema. Onset of symptoms is usually during childhood. Children can have recurrent attacks of swellings at various sites including limbs, lips, chest and; sometimes even laryngeal and intestinal edema is also seen. Some of them may present as recurrent pain abdomen also. The angioedema will have no other characteristic signs of allergy like itching or redness of overlying skin. The attacks do not respond to traditional antihistamines, epinephrine or corticosteroids. Usually these attacks abort by themselves in 2-3 days. Clinicians should be aware of this condition because sometimes the patient may present with a life threatening attack of laryngeal edema and none of the traditional medicines will work. It is an Autosomal dominant condition, so we see similar complaints in other family members although severity may differ. Most patients do well on therapy.
