We have normalised which isn't even healthy and normal, that's how Generational Trauma comes up in our lives
Unhealed trauma doesn’t stay outside the workplace — it often shows up quietly in how we work, communicate, and connect.
It can look like:
• Staying silent even when something feels wrong
• Avoiding friendships to “stay safe”
• Over-explaining or over-justifying your work
• People-pleasing to prevent conflict
• Fear of speaking up in meetings
• Difficulty trusting colleagues or leaders
• Feeling the need to constantly prove your worth
• Shutting down emotionally to appear “professional”
Many of these behaviors are normalized as good work ethic, but they can actually be protective responses shaped by past experiences.
What’s one behavior you’ve seen that might actually be a protective response rather than a personality trait?
